In this formation Conor thomas does a vital role defensively.

He does, just needs to work on his game when he becomes involved in an attack and making the right decisions.

Don't get the Nouble love.

Yes he's a decent target and worries defences with his size but I have no idea how a professional footballer can have such a bad first touch.

Well he hasn't got a bad first touch. So there's that.

So basically you are saying Thomas doesn't do any of these things.

So he isn't a great passer or dribbler, he doesn't have pace, can't really shoot, not a great tackler and can't cross.

Is your post meant to be in defence of Thomas?

Nope. Not saying that, Saying that he doesn't particularly excel at any of those things. You don't see him spraying the ball around the park or him dribbling past players, or putting great crosses in, that's not his game. He does a lot of the simple things though and they can go by unnoticed by fans.

Nouble takes the piss out of defenders, very cocky player. He had a chance or two today and was unlucky, I reckon he will make double figures.

Is it just me that though that Fleck have the ball away a lot in decent positions especially in the second half? That's why he only got a 7 from me.

Can someone elaborate on the penalty that Clarke was lucky not to give away? From block 22 I didn't see it....

If nothing else it was clumsy which is JC. He seemed to make a mistake and fall over and then to make amends he tried to pull him down. All in all very clumsy and untidy and I've seen them given. It's one of them tbh, if it's given ou say it's harsh and clumsy and if it isn't you say you got away with one.

Sorry for my bad review. Just calling it as I saw it.

No, I thought he got pretty sloppy at times in the second half too. A few times he took the wrong options when he could have created a chance.

I dunno about a lot but one that stands is when he broke though from midfield, he had Nouble and Jackson running either side. Tried to slide in Nouble but was a poor pass

He is a bit clumsy at times but he makes things happen, very direct player. That run he did directly from kick off would have been talked about years if he had a better finish or pass at the end of it.

Had some other good moments which he pretty much created himself.

Allsop 7 nothing spectacular , but calm and composed

Haynes 6.5 quiet game, but came through unscathed solid rather than spectacular

Willis 7 confident, unflappable, looks a good prospect

Webbster 7 mistake for goal, other than that measured and assured , read the game especially well

Reda 8 The man is a giant, colossal performance and great goal (he will score a hat full )

Clarke 7 did the simple things well, but seems to lack confidence in the final third

Thomas 7 competent perfomance, kept possession well and kept it ticking over nicely
fleck 8 tireless performance, breaking up play and great range of passing

Obrien 7.5 faultless display without being spectacular today (more to come i think)I like him alot , heart on your sleeve performer

Mcquiod 6 lots of effort , no end result, but would have had a tap in had Noubble squared the ball

Noubble 7.5 did well often against 2/3 apponents reall handfull all afternoon. Surprisingly Willing worker for a big man

Subs

Jackson 7 cleaver movement, genuine raw pace and a goal,

Other subs 6 each no reall time to influence game !

I thought Jorden Clarke did foul their guy in the box, fortunate to get away with that IMO

Haynes today was very poor.

He wasn't poor but i agree Thomas had the better game of the two.

See our 2nd goal he turns 2 men and gets a good shot off. Not amazing in all departments but much better than what we have currently in McQuiod and Tudgay.

clarke is not a wing back had plenty of opportunities in the final third to have an impact but he was ineffective, we seem to go down the right utilising clarke rather than haynes on the left

Thankyou Otis, at last someone talking a bit of sense. Without Conor (or a suitable replacement) doing his role the impressive Fleck and O' Brien partnership would not work. Everyone get off Conor's back and give credit where its due. Were 7 unbeaten so he's doing more right than many realise. PUSB

Quite a simple answer to that.

Haynes was targeted as a danger by Yeovil, so they spent the game denying him space and crowding him out. Therefore a lot of stuff came down our right hand side.

You may not have noticed, but when the ball went out to Clarke on the right hand side he got very little, or no support. No-one came and made runs outside him or on the overlap to become an outlet and therefore he was quite ineffective as an attacking threat.

When Jackson came on in the second half he started to make such overlaps and supported Clarke and therefore Clarke came into the game more.

It was a simple case of Haynes being denied the space and Clarke not getting the support he needed on the right until Jackson came on.

Exactly as we saw it.

Yeovil did their homework at half-time and their defenders man-marked him out of the game second half. He looked a little intimidated at first but that's because he is young and inexperienced, but then came back into it as the game went on.

Personally think Jordan Clarke works very hard but had no support yesterday until Simeon Jackson came on.

Allsop - 6 - didn't have anything to do.

Clarke - 6 - needs to get forward more but solid nonetheless.

Willis - 7 - solid

Webster - 7 - solid

Johnson - 8 - solid + good goal

Haynes - 6 - didn't do anything

Fleck - 8 - excellent

Thomas - 6 - non-existent. Pass completion doesn't count when all you do is make 5 yard passes.

O'Brien - 9 - superb performance, unlucky with the shot.

McQuoid - 6 - non-existent.

Nouble - 7 - played good and did well for the second goal. Looked a bit clumsy at times.

Subs:

Jackson - 8 - good poachers goals and looks like he'll replace the pace of Wilson

Phillips N/A

Hines N/A

Definitely at fault for the goal though. He was solid besides that, but that one slip cost us a goal, that's why I plumped for a 6.

I've become accustomed to Andy Webster turning like a bus with the reactions of a sloth.

Tis a worrying aspect of his game that. He lacks a bit of sharpness in our own penalty box and I think he can be turned quite easily at times.

He has looked a lot better this season than last mind you. Maybe the three at the back is a decent tactical decision by Pressley after all, maybe it's giving him the cover he didn't have last season.

Allsop - 7 didn't have much to do , pinged a great ball out to Haynes first half.

Haynes 6 - looked a bit tired today, and we coildn't get the ball out to him.
Clarke 6 - poor going forward
Webster 6 organised things well gave Haynes a good old bollocking at one point too
Willis 7
Reda 8 great goal and covered for Haynes well. How teams haven't exposed his and Websters pace yet I'm not sure!
O'brien 7 great first half, seemed to swap roles with Thomas second half again.
Thomas 6 - still a better performance off the ball than with it
Fleck 8 - motd class.
Nouble 8 - seemed to inject a bit of pace at times. Started playing like we were 5-0 up second half. Not sure if I liked that or not?!
Mcquoid 7- thought he was doing ok, was he injured or just tactics?

Jackson. 7 great pace

Probably because that's his best performance for a long time?

And even so he didn't do a lot of note. He did what was required which is like 9/10 for Thomas tbh.
