Just back from the game. Have to mention Jamie Allen, i think he's been superb since being brought back into the team, absolutely everywhere and showing some great leadership.
Torp again, another one who is stepping it up deserves much credit. Same goes for Thomas and Kitching, really showed aggression today.
Simms again great hold up play, and BTA's effort is unmatched. Difficult for both of them today with both teams playing 5 at the back, left it gritty and tough for the strikers.
These are the games that it's important to have midfielders chipping in, and also the type of game we were not getting anything from.
3 wins on bounce, great week.

Torp and Allen look much fitter. Not seen either get around the pitch as much before. If you’d had told me that him and Allen would be our central midfield pairing at the halfway stage, I would have been worried. Been fantastic this week.

Completely agree, both deserve all the plaudits. You can see the whole team has lifted, i've been really impressed with all of them this week. Those tackles from Thomas and Kitching, lifted the atmosphere and the rest of the players on the pitch.

Gyokeres was the loan player lol who didn’t quite know how to apply himself and never fully looked in control of the ball

I was just making the comparisons as Grendel said Bassette is that way now

Maybe he never reaches the level, maybe he does

Thought effort and intensity is up week on week … scrapping for loose balls, we were far to passive and easy to play against before loved Bobby Thomas’s commitment in the challenge sets the bar for the rest ..
really want Simms to come good but for me he can’t header and his hold up play is below par , we were crying out for a ball out of defence to be held up to take pressure off
But massive improvements week on week buzzing PUSB

Think Simms has proven in this league he has hot streaks. He was on 3/4 goals this time last year. Ended up with 19.

Scored 7 in the league in less than half a season for Sunderland. So he has it in him obvious to me. Just needs confidence and a run. We saw that last season.

I thought Asante was better today. But its about the team. Dont think the service was that great tbh. But they did a job from the front.

This post isn't completely honest mate , he scored 13 league goals not 19

He has 16 league goals in 72 league appearances

He scored 19 in total when beggining of jan he was on barely 3/4 goals.

My point being he went on an amazing run in the FA Cup and league..

Read my post it was about his hot streaks.

By the way, saying he held it up well today isn't saying he's as good as Messi. It's literally just saying that.

Sure , you mentioned matty godden earlier as a laugh , but ellis has a worse goal per minute record than matt godden for us in the championship

Are we happy with that from our 3.5 mill 24 year old CF on probably 20k a week

Roughly 33% of matty Goddens goals in championship are penalties. Not demeaning Godden as i rated him during his tine.

Simms doesnt take penaltys.

Take out the penaltys

Simms has 3 goals in 12 starts this season (yes this should be higher) and i believe it will get better. Hes a striker who needs starts imo.

I believe going forward we have in Simms someone who can with confidence can get 1 in 2 going forward if he gets a good run...as he showed last season.

Simms will score some goals sure , but I have my reservations about wether he will ever be the striker some of our fans think he is .

He's not doing anywhere near enough

We absolutely do have that in him. Good on you for backing our players, man. Look forward to seeing him and Wright back together too, their partnership last season was good. More to come from them.

To be fair I think he can do better. However from earlier this season he's on the up as much as Allen and Torp. Clearly the coaching is working.

Re: Bassette bar one game he's only ever played as a lone striker, even when he comes on now, BTA is off, and it's a straight swap for Simms. He's never played in a 2 with Simms. I'd like to see him given some more minutes with Simms,
