I don’t get the low marks across the board for the defence. Sure we let them in too often (both sides) but the central defenders all made amazing blocks especially in the first half. You can’t give up THAT much possession win 2-1 and have a shit defence.

A good defence doesn’t give the opposition 50+ touches inside their area and 20+ shots on goal. Last ditch blocks aren’t a sign of a good defence and CBs giving the ball away a third of the time was the main problem with our possession.

The problem with stats is they don't tell the whole story. Nearly all of their shots were from distance or tight angles. Most of their touches in our area were on the right of our area with them not being able to make much of them.

If that's the way Lampard wants us to defend then so be it. Not pretty but it works. Their keeper made the best save of the game. He let in 2 and we had a good goal disallowed. I'll take quality over quantity every time.

Lamps needs to have a words with Lats and tell him to stop trying to buy a foul when shielding the ball. Lost us the game at Norwich and gave them a chance at the end yesterday

I’m surprised at the Kitch scores. Don’t get me wrong he did a lot of things right but he does play the role very selfishly. He could see JDS was getting out numbered but kept his narrow position and didn’t offer much support or cover.

The same could be said for Lati, although his around game was worse.

It might be if course that they have been told as a 3 to play within the width of the box. If that’s the case then fair enough but it does leave our wing backs very exposed.

Both Lati and Kitching did it. Was frustrating to watch but i get the feeling they were following orders.

Dovin 7

Good saves and some better distribution. Choices with short passes to defenders far too deep invited unnecessary pressure at times. Maybe should have caught their goal. Maybe.

MVE 7

Just scraped a 7 due to done decent throws but not at his best.

Lati 5

All over the show. Own goal (although not really his fault) and some poor passing. Could easily have cost a penalty.

Kitching 6

Poor passing. Poor decision making. Poor leadership. Doesn’t seem to shout when needed.

Thomas 6

Some brave heading but no game common sense. Those poor passes and unnecessary corners given away could have cost us dearly.

JDS 4

Really poor. Looked like a kid in the wrong team. A couple of good bits going forward.

Grimes 7

Shows for the ball. Without him we would have been hammered.

Eccles 6

So so.

Rudoni 6

A cultured midfielder that is playing pretty much pinned to the wing. Big distance between him and Sims. Get pulled inwards sometimes man.

BTA 5

Poor control and didn’t seriously press. Needs benching now EMC back.

Sims 8

One decent goal, one crossed off for a dubious foul, dubious winner. Biggest plus: Sims now knows that if you press hard then maybe something happens.

Subs 6 all.

How’s that on the cb they could have played out better but their fundamental job of defending they did bloomin well

Last second winner against the odds. Away fans going mental. Team overjoyed and together. Manager loving every second. 6 wins out of 7. 1 point off play offs. Sheaf and Wright coming back. Fantastic additions in the window. These are great days….

SBT focused on negatives.

Was probably more the case that he was overly aware of Simms which hampered his concentration. What impressed me most is you see Simms setting off in a sprint from about 40 yards away, the type of hunger which can usually be lacking from his game.

Just not brave enough or no good at catching the ball. Should have jumped with a knee up, scoopingthe ball into his arms. Can help with balance and gives protection. No chance of a foul as he was all by himself.

Can't be easy on a young GK having Simms running at him. One eye on the ball, the other on a beast running towards him.

Good shout, putting pressure on players can lead them into making mistakes.

As we saw in the third goal Keith Houchen scored in the quarter final at Hillsborough.

David Speedy was very good at it.

I don’t recall him being particularly quick - just an awkward little fugger who was probably a nightmare to play against.

genuinely asking out of interest, no agenda, would we miss him?

he’s a decent squad player, but personally I don’t think he improves us, and I don’t think Lampard sees what some do on here otherwise he’d be a nailed on starter

I don't know. As a squad player I think he's pretty decent at this level but he's unlikely to be integral to our success.

Some people would argue how much would we miss Sheaf should he leave as he's out injured so much and doesn't exactly lead the team so now we've got Grimes do we need him?
