Saka motm

Closely followed by emc and Rudoni before he went off.

A couple of questionable subs, when Rudoni went off we went to shit bringing sheaf on.

Bidwell was terrorised all game down the left on his own. Not sure what putting Paterson in front of him was going to do.

I know it was wrights first game but I'm not sure about him down the middle with the way we play

Not sure EMC should be in consideration for MOTM today.

He was good going forward but offered so little help to Bidwell who was struggling.

Don't agree about Rudi, thought he looked a bit off it today even before the goal.
You're right about Bidwell, the Temu Todd Cantwell tore him apart and it carried on after he went off.

Another thing, I could be reading something into this that's not there but Thomas looked a bit pissed off at the end and seemed to storm off from the end of game celebrations

Not sure what he could have been pissed off about? See if CWR interview him after the game.

True about EMC, it does leave Bidwell stranded whereas Sakamoto does get back and defend a bit better.

Saka has to get motm

First I've seen grimes lose possession a few times but he still played well so that's a good thing

We are a good team. We don't need to fire on all cylinders to score 3 which is encouraging

I thought Eccles played well last week. Today though, he had a very poor game.

Bidwell was really struggling too and beaten for pace constantly, so he needs marking down.

Poor miss from Simms, for the penalty, but I just knew he wouldn't score. Need to give the ball to a player with steely-eyed confidence. Simms is better I feel when he doesn't have to think about it. Otherwise , he had quite a decent game.

Very nervy today, in what should have been a much easier contest.

So glad we have Dovin.

He was popping up everywhere and driving us forward, but his passing was off.

The Grimes technique to volley a tricky ball back into the penalty area - just out of the reach of Simms - shows he's a cut above. A brilliant signing and already one of the first names on the team sheet.

This.

For one thing, Simms is poor at picking a spot in the corner when finishing.

I thought he had a good game, though, and his hold-up play was excellent at times.

My brother and I said the same. Simms held the ball up very well, I thought, and outmuscled defenders multiple times, but the penalty was very poor

Dovin is brilliant. Great save prior to their second goal, which looked offside to me

Always felt Simms would miss as he isn't the cleanest striker of the ball at the best of times

Yep I rate Simms more that most but even I thought it was a bad choice to let him take it.

He was also crap first 10 mins. But actually thought he was had a decent game, won a lot and his hold up and smart lay offs are a big part of our game plan

Thought simms held it up well 4 or 5 times , but couldnt trap cement and gave it away several times because of it .. missed a penalty .. not sure he played well at all , easily pleased ?? Seems so

Bidwell a poor game and often left a large gap between him and kitching

Eccles just didn't have much joy second half once rudoni went off ..

I actually think sakamoto edges MOTM for me

Another big win at a really crucial time

Tough one to rate

Dovin 6 - Made some good saves but could have done better for the 2nd goal.
van Ewijk 7.5 - got forward really well and cant remember an attack coming down his wing.
Thomas 6.5 - was a nuisance in their box for set plays, was decent defensively.
Kitching 6.5 - Same as Thomas really but added good tactical foul towards the end of the game.
Bidwell 5.5 - was quite off it today was getting beat often by their winger and was slow in recovering.
Grimes 7.5 - Does the simple and basics really well and really composed on the ball cracking signing.
Eccles 5.5 - Think he was off it and needed to come off earlier poor shot into the car park but also a decent one lead to a corner.
Rudi 8 - Was really good, they couldnt get near him, great header and movement, so good on the ball.
Sakamoto 8.5 (MOTM) - Great cross for his assist, cracking goal, great work rate in attempting to win the ball back, all round good performance.
Simms 7 - Penalty miss aside was a good performance and deserved a goal, worked hard, was battling and being wrestled from minute 1 till he came off.
Mason-Clarke 7.5 - Good poaching for his goal, was good going forward but didnt offer too much when it comes to support for Bidwell in defence.

Wright 5 - Rusty, wouldnt read anything into it
Paterson n/a
Allen n/a

I think that's harsh, it wasn't until the 3rd bounce that I was sure the keeper was going to save it!

Thought Dovin, Rudi, Simms were good. Saka MOTM.

Sheaf was pretty good too considering his lack of minutes.

Thought Eccles was poor.

The "Eccles is shit" lot out again in force. For just one game, don't only pay attention to where he slips up (which btw I'm almost certain was less than Grimes today) and focus on what he does do well and you will be surprised. Material impact on pretty much every goal for starters.

Absolutely and it was lovely to see.

I have felt that he was improving bit by bit lately but I reckon this was the first time that he has been at his absolute best since his shocking injury.

With Saka back on song and our injured players returning we really have to believe that we can make the playoffs.
