He did play well. Hardly put a foot wrong.

Burge 7
Willis 6
Pennington 7
Johnson 8
Stokes 7
Barton 3
Fleck 4
Ward 7
O'Brien 6
Nouble 5
Proschwitz 5

Phillips 7
Maddison 7

I thought Maddison and Phillips were a breath of fresh air when they came on lots of pace and effort and both are very confident.

Barton cannot trap the ball and always goes backwards

The defence looks better with Johnson in it rather than that lumbering fool Martin.

I meant to give Barton a 6 (the same as fleck) I thibk he's a classy player. He made two excellent slide rule passes, one in the first half, one in the second that slipped in a player for a chance. He's the only player we have that has the vision for that. I don't think we have room for him and fleck on the same midfield, especially when we play with two strikers and no wingers for them to spread the play to.

Disagree about that: Maddison.

Completely agree with the him or fleck. But I don't think there's room for either of them in a promotion chasing side.

Since when is handball a red card offence?

Barton was as good as Fleck and better than JOB and the awful Willis.

I'm so angry that people are having different opinions on players performances. Where's my caps lock key.

JOB did nothing at all in second half. As stated 2 slide rule passes from Barton, both would have resulted in goals if we had a decent striker. I guess we notice different things. Barton did not have his best game, certainly, but his contribution was decent.

Signing Pennington should be the first thing we do in the summer. I was massively critical of him when he was playing at RB, but he is a completely different player in the centre.

Barton did nothing all game, stop getting an erection over two passes over 90 minutes. JOB goal was really good finish, not a scuffed effort and certainly better than the two pathetic, pitiful, scuffed pea rollers Barton had in the first half which both went wide.

I'm not even a massive O'Brien fan but along with Ward, they are clearly the two best midfielders we have.

What's more worrying is how awful Willis is playing. Every time the ball went near him it was heart in mouth time. Mowbray saw it too which is why he put Phillips on to double up there. This was a good move and steadied the ship.
i speak as someone who thought Willis looked really solid at the start of the season.

Agreed on Willis, he's decent enough in defence usually I guess but everytime he's going forward he just kicks it out for a throw in or a goal kick.

Burge 8 - good hands and some terrific saves.

Willis 6 - good defensivly but so poor going forwards. not very technical

Pennington 9 - brilliant

Reda 9 - the man beast is back. exceptional as old manager would say

Stokes 7 - worked hard, very good defsnivly and did great for goal. doesnt attack enough possibly though.

Barton 5 - poor game. half hearted effort today and technically not his usual self.

Fleck 6 - just ok

JOB 7 - great goal, worked hard but didnt do too much else for me

Ward 8 - easily our best midfielder. hope we can get him back next year

Nouble 5 - poor game today

Proschwitz 6 - held ball up well, won a few headers and unlucky not to score. at least it wasnt a ridiculous miss, hopefully it wont demoralise him

subs

maddison - 8 - skills pay the bills,so close to goal
phillips - 7 - put himself about and added something to the right that we missed earler
odulsi - 5 - didnt make an impact.

overall comfortable win for me,great to see.

Weird. My mate and me were noticing first half how few headers he was winning. Watched every challenge after that, and he was still losing more than he won.. Not knocking him as a player, thought he had a decent game, especially as the challenges he lost out on didn't turn into goals against....

he miscontrolled two passes in the first half, JOB miscontrolled at least 5, and got cheered off...

he put 2 good passes into the box, and regularly looks to pass forward, but watch when he has the ball and see the lack of movement for a pass. That's down to the 2 strikers being poor today. Barton had a below average game today, and that gives the haters ammunition, where others escape it for being worse.

Proschwitz I marked down for the dreadful miss and the one bit of awful football in the 2nd half, when we were on the attack and his control was dreadful. Thought he worked hard besides that, but that miss was truly awful.

Was so relieved when Barton was taken off. At times the bloke is nothing short of a liability.

Ward was MOTM first half, but he lost his way a bit in the 2nd half, so MOTM for me was Reda. Excellent leadership shown today and he's been sadly missed.

You watched a different game to me. We are a much better side with him in the side.

I think the love in for Maddison is a bit OTT today. He had a couple of good moments, worked hard, and got in the way of Phillips in the box. Terrific comedy value on that one.

I don't buy that he changed the game, we were in charge for most of the match.

He he is undoubtedly going to be a very good player, but I think Some peoples ratings are based on that rather than today's performance.

Just watched the highlights in order to confirm my thoughts and dispel your strange comment there, Oakey.

JOB's goal was placed beautifully and was anything but scuffed.

I thought Barton and JOB were both decent In their roles today
Barton Irks me sometimes when he does the piruette thingy
Jobs goal was very well taken
We've scored a few from that move this season
Nouble from Haynes assist v Gillingham being the most notable
Back to those midfielders, who gave the ball away most

It's off the ball that irks me the most with Barton. Sometimes he simply refuses to move into any space and just stands there wanting the ball directly to his feet in the spot he is standing.

When that happens though invariably, he just passes the ball back to where it came from.

Burge 7 some vital stops did well but still does not convince me
Willis 6 - Not his best game but solid defensivley
Pennington 7 - Good very assured though Colchester did not really test.
Johnson 7.5 - Good to see him back a dominant force at the back.
Stokes 7.5 - I thought he had a very good game good defensively and one of few players who tried to drive us forward.
JOB 6.5 - Worked hard took goal well
Ward 6.5 - First time I have seen him liked what I saw but think from feedback he has has better games? Great signing though.
Barton 6 - Did ok but him and Fleck too similar can only really have one in start xi
Fleck 6 - Same Comments as Barton
Prosch 5.5 - Tried hard but pretty ineffective should have scored after rounding goalie
Nouble 5 - Same as Prosch minus tried hard....sick of saying he has so much more in locker than what he delivers

Subs:
Maddison 7.5 Great cameo tried to make things happen actuaky felt some excitement when he got the ball have not felt that for a long long time!!!
Phillips - 7 Also di well when came on and was postive
Odelusi 6 - did not have long but did not look great either
