Ok ladies and gents, who are your top 3 players of the season to date (I’ve included the players with the most league starts).

POTS: Has to be Rushworth doesn’t it? No one else has been consistent imo

It's bizarre isn't it? We've scored tons more goals than everyone else, we have a striker vying for the golden boot, and two other in double figures..... Yet it's our keeper who's pretty much unanimous in this. Show's how good he is

Rushworth definitely top
Then it’s harder
Mve probably second his pace gets is out of so much trouble
Thomas 3rd he has his faults but he’s a huge part of why we’re in this position

Most improved - Dasilva
Highest scorer will be - Wright

Very tough. I voted once and changed it almost immediately. There's so many players that have done well.

The fact is, we have so many players who have contributed this season, to what could really be one of our best seasons ever (I know it is not over yet). The talent and quality in our squad is very good, and we have reached some towering highs at times.

What we hope to achieve will go down in history should it come off, but for me I think I will look back on it and look at the times we had to dig in, and that's why my players voted are not necessarily the ones with the most skill or ability, or goals. I am really voting for them for their dedication to give 100% even when it isn't going for us. There have been occasions where you have seen some of our players prepared to die on the pitch to score a goal or get a win, and for me that counts for more than anything else.

Rushworth.

Outfield is difficult as many have had spells where they have been very important. If forced to pick i'd maybe say EMC.

DaSilva because he has been a standout this year. Lot's of people will think Rushworth and I agree he has made us far more confident at the back and has made some excellent stops. But that is what you should be expecting. DaSilva has galvanised everyone this year with his complete form turnaround. Everyone else has done what was expected of them...all some some extent standouts which is the reason we are top. Someway to go yet though.

I Think EMC has been the most consistant over the season so far. Hes an absolute work horse down the left

Rushworth is def up there but for me EMC just pips it

No loan player should ever win POTS awards. Give it him if he’s coming back but otherwise put the feather in the cap of someone who will be here next season and have the boost that goes with the recognition. I’d give it Grimes. So many great performances around the team but he’s the one who I think had made the most impact on our results across the whole season. Hard to imagine how we managed without him.

Weirdly forgot about Rushworth because it's quite unusual to have a keeper as POTS. I think EMC or Van Ewijk for outfield POTS.

Can't look past Carl as number 1
Not been as amazing recently but Matty has to be in top 3
I've gone with EMC based on goal impact but tough on JDS not being in top 3

I'd have Rushworth, EMC, MvE too. In that order. A lot to choose from though, which isn't surprising when top of the league.

What if Grimes left during pre-season? What if it's a player that is going out of contract and won't be here next season?

If they've played the games and put in standout performances then they deserve it, loan player or not. If anything it gives the others something to aspire to and realise the level they need to reach. "See that guy last year? He was a temp and he outperformed all of you."

Agree with these.
Grimes did have a bit of a blip which coincided in that poor run of games, but I think he was probably a victim of his own success, and he was overexposed in that position covering too much at once

Latibeaudiere has also been really good when he's been called upon, but probably not a big enough sample size throughout the season to be listed here

DaSilva for me but I know I’ll be in the minority!! Rushy has been an incredible signing and just makes what he does look so easy. So I’m completely with him getting the vote. I just love watching JDS play. Outstanding touch and technique. And constantly keeps our play flowing even when we look like we might get caught out. The piece of skill against SU when we’d just gone 1-0 down and were under the cosh was insane. Also EMC and Grimes should be up there.

EMC

For the third one I was torn between Grimes, MVE and Dasilva.

Went with Grimes in the end.

I don’t see the point of a top 3 - Haji Wright I’m sure will end up on over 20 goals so he’s clearly made the biggest outfield impact

Gotta keep Rushy next season! Amazing keeper. Haven't seen enough of Dovin to compare, but what I've seen of Rushworth makes me think he should be our No 1 choice for keeper.

I can’t consider Wright in top 3. Obviously his goals make a huge difference and has tons of ability and potential but the inconsistency and “can’t be bothered” phases just drive me nuts. He also has one trait that as a former player I see and hate. He dribbles into positions where he’s blocked or boxed in and hits a shot that has absolutely nowhere to go but straight into a defender’s leg. He did really well to score a “hit and hope” from a similar position and scored recently (Sheff Utd?) but in this case there was an actual gap. I’ll continue to be patient but I really want to see the best version of him more often.
