Nearly a 1/4 of the season now gone. Who is your player of the season so far? You could probably make arguments for any of the below:

Moore: Commands his box really well. Has made some good saves at pivotal moments which have undoubtedly earned us points as much as some goals at the other end. Gives the whole defence confidence.

McFadzean: Commander, leader and his distribution has been exceptional too. Some of the pings on Friday night were inch perfect. Think we would lose a lot of identity if he was missing.

Hamer: I think most will probably go Gyo but Hamer makes the whole thing happen. His range of passing is a joke and his energy is a big reason we transition (both ways) so well and so quickly.

Gyokeres: Not just the goals, the work rate, the hold up play and his general directness. Could probably have even scored more than he has but he has been brilliant.

Notable mentions
Hyam - consistent, solid and brings the ball out well.
O’Hare - Work rate is amazing and very important to what we do.
Allen - Has come back into the fold superbly. Not put a foot wrong.

Can't disagree too much. Maybe giving Moore a bit too much credit. For me he gets notable mentions category. Because as you say the defence ahead of him havnt given him not much to do. But when he does it he's pure class.

Top five in this order for me:

1. Gyokeres
2. Moore
3. Hamer
4. Hyam
5. McFadzean

Gyokeres has played a part in 9 of our goals so that’s that really

Well it has to be Gyokeres but McFadzean ain’t far behind dominating the central defence, bringing the ball out Franz Beckenbaur stile and has marked some good centre forwards out of the game. Going to take some replacing when the time comes but still has a bit of time on his side.

I think having a goalie who is solid let’s the defence play their game better though. So much effort last season was out into protecting Wilson/Marosi and it dragged the whole team deeper.

Moore has exceptional distribution aswell , I think I've seen him kick the ball out twice in 9 games .
He collects the ball on crosses and isn't static on his line like the last few we've had .. gets down well for a big fucker too .

Very safe hands

Can't believe there are so many strong contenders.
This time last season it was Hamer and O'Hare and that was it.

What is encouraging too is the likes of Clarke-Salter and Maatsen are improving every game and are likely to be in the mix for top performers over the next 9 games.

The fact is without Gyokeres we’d probably be near the relegation zone. We’d have probably only won 2 games and the season would look very different

When you have someone who scores nearly every game the whole dimension changes. Last year we were nowhere near the level required in the centre forward position and now we seem to have someone whose massively exceeded expectations

You could say that about most clubs tbh , Brentford last year had Ivan toney score 31 goals .. then a couple score 8 .

Every team that does well has a clinical striker

I agree and last season we had no one - our success in league 2 was mcnulty and league 1 Godden - without a goalscorer you are done for

And the problem is , as we all know they are like gold dust.. if vik manages 20 goals which is now looking certain unless he's injured .. then at 23 , with what appears to be untapped into ability.. he will be worth a bomb .. how do you replace it at this level ?

Yeah, it was madness that there were a fair few posters on here during pre-season advocating sticking with Wilson as number 1, as a keeper wasn’t that important.
Nearly as bad as the most loyal Thornites claiming towards the end that managers don’t really make any difference whatsoever

Mmmmm certainly he’s making a massive difference I don’t think we’d be that low though
