Watched both play off games from our league and all 4 teams are so much better than us. Are we as good as we think??

Exactly. Think we're the only team ever never to have made the play off or top 6 finish!!

Hardly breaking news I'm afraid, any of us who have seen the good times and good players know how bad we are now. At least we can actually see some sort of plan on the pitch though and genuine effort, It's going to be a long time though until we can say we are a good team.

First potential season without minus 10 (please let accounts be filed etc), We need a shed load of luck with injuries, no naff signings and all loans to come off. Then we have about 10% chance of play offs - otherwise - long, hard season ahead (unless of course, we come back home...........):thinking about:

Small investment and being back home at Ricoh we would walk into the top 3.
For Ffs we were and should be a premier league club and have a premier league ground.

One thing I noticed at all these play off games is the empty seats in the grounds. If we ever reached a play off semi final and were at the Ricoh, I'm sure there would be a sell out, no matter who we were playing. The Crewe game demonstrated that, even though tickets were cheap. It probably just shows how starved of success we have been over the years.

We drew twice with Preston. Lost to and beat Rotherham, Leyton Orient and Peterborough. Not terrible.

Why didn't we walk it last season. Especially with the myriad of players we used. If Pressley had the luxuries Robins and Thorn were given. ....

Cannot count Thorn and Shaw mangerial reigns as they were both out of their depth. Mark Robbins "did walk it" . I wasnt around in UK but form indicated we were the best team in the division. All went wrong when MR did not get the assurances from SISU. After that it was another start again situation. 4 coaches in the same season obviously is not conducive for success.

Robbins blamed the council. You clearly have some evidence to question Robins public statement. Where is it?

I'd argue we'd have been second had were It not for the truncated season, dallying when appointing Robins ,then losing him and finally the minus ten .

Next season - let's dream that we make the playoffs and we are still at Sixfields. Do you think in the interest of the team ( not forgetting the finances!) that ACL and SISU will agree to the home leg at the Ricoh or play in front of the ground-busting 7k down the M1? Just a thought

Pre 2014 we had a mid-table squad but a top 6 first 11 wins against orient posh rotherham plus drawing away to Wolves were great results. Post Clarke Callum's injury we were a bottom 6 / relegation team in 2014 - scraped a few wins but on the whole thoroughly outplayed good draws with wolves and pne and bristol away win were good but we looked weak

I'd hardly consider what Thorn and Robins were given could be described as 'luxuries'. I think so often we over egg the pudding when analysing why our team fails.

Teams are only as good as the goals they score. When that capability is removed they tend to fail. If you look back on the 2 occasions we have been relegated it would surely back this up.

1999-2000, Top scorers Gary MacAllister (13) and Robbie Keane (12) replaced by Craig Bellamy, an untried at top level 20 year old returning from a serious injury.

Net result? 7 goals....

Similarly, Jutkiewicz, on 9 goals at the time, was sold in January and we were relegated. As I recall, when we had Marlon King in the side the previous season, we looked quite a handy outfit.

To be fair we were already bottom of the league when we sold juke, and results improved following his departure.

We weren't that great the season before, we started well then collapsed from Christmas result in bothroyds sacking and Thorns honeymoon period. And actually when looking at our finishes in the champions which were usually around 17-18th we were rarely a handy outfit as depressing it is to admit.
