The notion that he will score lots of goals is flawed. He hasnt for a long time and performance wise is hugely inconsistent. Add to that he has to be on a reasonable wage this could you used for probably 2 League One players.

Who said he's going to score loads of goals? Isn't his record 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 since he came back? How is that not a decent return for a midfielder? And how do you know what wage he's on? I thought the idea of getting him back was because he was cheap.

Other posters have indicated he would be a regular scorer in the League. I do not see it as I cannot see any consistency in his game at all. No-one knows who gets paid what but he doubled his wages to go to Birmingham and it would be hard to see him not earning at least double a League One salary. He is not alone. Bell, Baker and especially Wood are big earners and the question has to be asked can we afford them and will they be value in League One?

That's an unanswerable question at the moment though isn't it? You don't know how it will pan out. I'd also disagree that Baker's a big earner. He came from Stockport, I don't think he could have been demanding to be one of our top earners?

To go up we need to win 22 games (looking at this seasons table). That is winning every home game. To do that you need to average 2 goals a game which means 2 prolific strikers are needed. Cody needs a partner of we are to go up. I honestly think that's all it comes down to, what striker
we are gunna sign

Depends who is in charge. Huddersfield didn't need to sell Rhodes, Sheff Utd similar with Evans. If Cody scores 10 by Christmas we will probably sell him.

The year before Leicester went down they bought Matty Fryatt. He wasn't a success. The year they went down I think they had the best defence in the league, but again they didn't create much and that's what their downfall was in the end. The year they were down Fryatt scored a bucket full which obviously gave him confidence and he carried that form on the year after. That's why I also think Cody will do well in league 1 as he's shown he does know where the back of the net is.

Fryatt was already proven in League One with Walsall, he scored 15 in 37, and 13 in 25 in his two seasons in League One prior to signing for Leicester. At the moment our faith in Cody is based in 1 season in League Two.

Leicester all had 4 others that contributed a decent amount of goals that season too Oakley (8), Dyer (11), King (11), and Howard (15). They also had a lot more pace than us in Dyer and Fryatt

Yes, I know he had experience at that level but it didn't do him any good to start with in the championship. I remember Leicester supporters saying to get rid. Same with sheff utd supporters and ched Evans! Cody's looked quite sharp and scored a few, that's why I think he'll settle in league 1.

Fryatt isn't pacey. McDonald's about as quick as him. But yeah, I've said to get in some pace and power, we need it. But we don't know what's going to happen before the season starts.

Cody by himself won't score enough-we need at least 1 or 2 more of similar ability otherwise it'll be lower half obscurity. I don't think we'll concede many but that counts little if we can't score.

I think Cody will score a hat-full to be honest.

Ched Evans looked terrible at Championship level and scored over 30 goals this season. Roy O'Donovan scored 9 goals in 15 appearances for hartlepool in league one a couple of years ago,.

nimely on season long loan perhaps? its not like his record is stellar in championship, maybe man city will allow him to drop down a league

hes been unlcuky not score at least 5 for us,think he would do very very well in league one

O'Donovan has scored 3 goals in his other 63 appearances. He is lucky to still be a professional footballer. His luck will soon run out surely. We need a new forward line. McDonald has to stay and hopefully with a full pre-season can do well. We have nothing else though and no wide players of quality to supply crosses (Baker I guess the jury is out). If we are stuck with Thorn he has to get rid of the diamond system. League One looks physical. Yes good footballing teams will play their way out of the league but we are not that great and without Norwood the midfield distribution will be poor.

He hasn't been unlucky, he never looked like scoring and one of the main reasons is he never showed any desire to get in the box.

I'd welcome him back, but he's still very raw.

He's got bagfulls of talent, but he doesn't know how to use it. Up until his last couple he was extremely shot shy.

You'd have him back as he has pace - which no-one else in the team has.

It's no good being quick if you don't know what to do when you get there. A bit like Walcott of a few years ago, a speedy winger that couldn't cross to save his life.

But it does put defenders on the back foot and takes more of them out of the game. We are a hoplessly one paced side. Bell must be the worlds slowest wide player and McSheffrey and Bell are not a lot better, he does add a different dimension and probably would be more effective wide right.

Which is exactly why Middlesborough played him wide. He's just doesn't know how to use his talent effectively up front, and yes I would have him back.

Team's worked him out in the end because he had no variation, he wants to drop deep everytime get the back and turn. Problem is if someone plays a DCM by the time he turns there are 4/5 defenders between him and then goal. He needs to start using his pace and make more runs behind defenders, which will then create doubt in defenders minds about whether he'll try and run behind or drop deep, that will make defenders defend a bit deeper and create a bit more space in the hole. The other thing he needs to learn is to make runs into the box when the balls out wide - lots of times we've had the ball out wide and the only man in the box is Cody, and Nimely's hanging out on the edge of the box, with no interest in making a run into the box.

He's got some talent, but he will never play premier league football unless he learns these things.
