So Brendan Rodgers is going to revolutionise Liverpool's style of play by instilling the "passing game" so successfully practiced by Barcelona and mimicked occasionally by Arsenal.
Having watched Barca many times I was, at first, mesmerised by the length of possession, ball control, vision, overall skill etc but of late I just find it totally boring.
Yes there are occasions of absolute brilliance by Messi et al that defy football logic but for vast periods of the game it feels like "pitter patter" football with 50/60 passes strung together across the park and backwards before something interesting happens.
Having watched some of the English clubs in the Champions league, the Prem League and to a lesser extent the playoffs for sheer excitement and crowd pleasing enjoyment English style of play surely rivals or betters pitter patter football.
Yes it resembles 100 mph football at times but it is at least end to end, swift breakaways, shots pinging in from everywhere. Scores of 8-2, 6-1, 5-3, 4-4 abound in the Premiership with bottom teams beating top teams with regularity.
Yes Brendan you go ahead, pass the opposition to death but I'm looking forward to more of the "up and at 'em" English style of football next season and hope pitter patter doesn't take off here and is confined primarily to the Spanish leagues where it belongs.

Apart from this season, Barcelona have won the league many times over the last few seasons and they have a fantastic H2H record vs Real Madrid under Guardiola. Real Madrid under Mourinho are as physical as any side in the premierleague.I believe Barca wouldn't be as rated in the prem.
For a start the more physical teams would batter them, causing confidence to drop.

We play the beautiful game....and look what we have achieved using this system....
What ever formation or style of play you choose, you need a system to suit the players that you have.
It seemed to work well for him at Swansea, who were above Arsenal on number of passes comgleted last season.

Any system requires financial backing to be success-full.
If you are referring to England , then I beleive the problem has been we try to play a europian style game that we aren;t used to instead of playing to our strengths
Even as far back as the hand of god goal we tried to play argentina at their own game until we went behind , then we upt the tempo and played our natural game
we had them all over the place they couldn't handle it at pace
Yes I know you will say we lost ........but undeserverdly
I was referring to the Godfathers of the Beautiful Game....Andy 'Total Football' Thorn, and Steve 'one-touch' Harrison.....

It does seem rather ironic that now ticket staff are sacked, mediocre players are rejecting contracts the one who will stay regardless is our manager. I wonder why?
