Thought a few might find this interesting if not scroll on.
Back in April I was given access to the CBS behind the scenes and took a few pics. Interestingly I also took a few pics of the pitch from the touchline little did I know what was going to happen. These pics were taken a few weeks before the first concert. BA816B1F-9151-4C5A-BDDC-6E6B97652BC7.jpeg

How much damage does a concert do, bearing in mind it was completely covered with flooring of some sort?

The pitch looks in poor condition on those pictures, even if it is covered for the concert there is a hell of a lot of footfall and machinery going over it to make the sets up, Rammstein in particular

Shows how poor the pitch was then as well.

Still damage at the edges there prior to the 7s. You would think if they had done any work at all then they would have re-seeded the touchlines

Theoretically not much but there's some major caveats.

You cover it with something like supatrak which is designed to allow the surface under it to breathe, use a cheaper alternative and you can have problems.

The ideal is to remove the old pitch, prepare it for sowing, cover, have the concert then once the concert is over re-seed.

It wasn’t too bad at all really and I don’t believe two concerts damaged that pitch. What has buggered it up is having no proper work done on it, probably not enough watering ( metered water costs a few quid ) but mainly a load of rugger buggers tramping all over it just a week a go. All symptoms of a desperate sports club trying to grab some extra cash but not investing a lot on the upkeep.

I posted on her after the Millwall game about how bad the pitch was around Christmas. People weren't bothered despite the fact Hamer and O'Hare could hardly string a pass together without the ball bobbling.

It's a dreadful pitch.

It's cold that time of year so she probably wanted to grow it out for the winter.
