I agree it is difficult

I caught these two green bugs (sure they have a proper name) with my canon sx510. Tried to get as close up as possible but lost a lot of focus! Think it partly them trying to keep their modesty given, with the change in colour I think they might have been getting up to some naughtiness and I was clearly intruding! I hope they were from the same household, getting that close! Although I guess they are outdoors

Nice shots. Those look like Nezara Viridula (Green Stink Bug aka Green Vegetable Bug)

Nice shots. How did you take them?
I just bought a 60x telescope and am going to try taking some moon photos through that.
Won't be easy, it's so powerful it's difficult to focus on it even visually.
And the slightest movement sends it out of the viewfinder.
Will have to use my heaviest-duty tripod.

Thanks buddy! I have a small tripod (one with bendy legs!), just a cheap thing or may have even come with an old camera, not sure. Didn’t start using it til last year when I went away! But has helped me get some of my best shots (Only slow capture shots I’ve ever taken were in Budapest Last year - can’t remember if I shared them so will post in a second).
I then put a 3 second timer on the shot to try and avoid any movement. my camera is only a ‘super zoom’ but anything over 30 x (I think) the image usually got a bit skew
I am not of a point and shoot while hoping for the best kinda shooter

Until I visited Budapest in the summer and had time on my hands to test my camera, id never managed a long exposure shot. On that holiday over 2 days, I tested it against Trams! And was very impressed with the outcome!

excellent work!! And thanks for giving the backstory, otherwise I would have just thought ‘what’s Shafali Whatshername doing on here’, and ‘has HH got his threads mixed up! This isn’t the ‘not so obvious hot’ thread’

They're great Houch. Come up every year about early April, but take about five years to first flowering from planting seeds, so a long-term project.
I've never had any success with them, sadly.

I took a few of the night sky when we had some clear nights a few weeks ago. Only taken on my phone using a selfie stick/tripod thing a d a night mode setting, so probably not the best quality but my actual camera has been stashed away in the loft for a while now, and I don't have a tripod for it.

Lovely and clear, especially for a phone camera! I can easily make out Orion in the first pic!

It was Orion that caught my interest. I was surprised how clear it was, considering the usual streetlight pollution you get in built up areas.

For a phone camera (Samsung S20 FE) it's pretty decent. It's got some quite useful tools and settings you can adjust, and when you can get it to stay steady, then the image quality is fairly good.

Bleddy frogs are doing all sorts of despicable things in my pond at the moment. Counted sixteen of them tonight (edit: not including the plastic one my grandson put there ). Spawn everywhere. Dirty buggers
