Rumored Coventry City FC target Kevin Phillips has signed a 1 year deal at rival championship outfit Blackpool

The deal includes the option for a 12-month extension to be taken up next summer.

Exciting

"I did a fair bit of work last year for Sky television watching Blackpool when I was commentating," Phillips told the club's official website.

"Like everyone else in the country, I enjoyed watching Blackpool play and creating chances.

"It was exciting to watch and Ian Holloway is an infectious manager. That was certainly a major factor in me wanting to join Blackpool.

"I've scored many goals in my career and I still believe I've got many in me.

"Hopefully I can get on the end of a few of those chances that we create."

I think he will do well for them, I would have liked to see him here! He is clinical!

Ah well.. we're probably better off for not paying his wages.. you watch him go and get injured half way through the season.. Not before he scores against us though..

I'd have Kevin Phillips for one season over most Championship strikers for three.

Just not sure about him now. he is not a worker by any means and a team would have to carry him just so he can grab the opportunity of a goal or two. Does that work? Brum hardly ever played him for a similar reason. Today's game is faster paced than just 5 years ago.
Will be interesting to see what he does there though and see if we missed a golden opportunity or dodged a £15k a week bullet.

Yeah I'm glad we're not shelling out what little money we have on him... too old for me, but best of luck to him at blackpool

Just wanted to add. Blackpool would not break their strict rule on pay last year in the premiership which was 10k a week! Makes me believe now that actually Phillips has gone to Blackpool on no more or even less than that with the Pool now in the Championship again?

So had Thorn talked to him seems we would have matched any offer Blackpool have given him? Yet he chose not to talk to us.

I think we have dodged a bullet. I'm looking for to the Juke and Sheffers up front with A.N.Other on loan from the prem...

I seriously don't think AT was interested in him tbh, he would only be an impact sub or a 60 minute player. So the only way he was going to join was if his wages were super cheap. No way the club or AT wanted to make him one of the clubs biggest earners when AT knows he wouldn't be finishing matches and playing 3 matches in 7 days some times.

Would have been another Carsley

Kevin Phillips yes a clinical finisher, when he plays and for how many minutes he actually plays I think value for money we had a lucky miss , that's if AT really was interested in him
