Bradford boss Phil Parkinson: Defeat at Coventry is 'an absolute travesty'

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson was left to rue missed chances and the late dismissal of Steven Davies after his side went down 1-0 at Coventry in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night.

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson was left to rue missed chances and the late dismissal of Steven Davies after his side went down 1-0 at Coventry in Sky Bet League One on Tuesday night.

Substitute Andy Rose grabbed the game's only goal with his first touch after his 58th-minute introduction, clinching back-to-back wins for Tony Mowbray's side.

Despite the defeat, Bradford still have their destiny in their own hands when it comes to making the play-offs, but Parkinson was left pondering what might have been at the full-time whistle.

" Some of the football we played was of the highest order and to come away with nothing is an absolute travesty," he said.

"We know when we get chances we have got to take them and we haven't done that in the last two games and it has cost us dearly.

I loath this man , and it fills me with great pleasure that he feels this way lol

Different game than I was at I thought they were ok but no better, they are a big physical side more like we should be next year

Interesting, it sounds a bit like the game up there, where we played some nice football and were unfortunate not to come away with 3 points.

I thought Bradford were pretty poor for a top 6 team. They did even less than us in the first half which reminded me of a couple of previous turgid 0-0 draws with them, not a chance in sight by half time. It was dreadful stuff.

We may have got our goal out of nothing, and offered little up front, but Bradford still looked poor until they decided to go for it in the last few minutes. Fortunately we chose last night to compete and defend well and RCC had an excellent game, his handling was very good.

Parkinson needs to look a bit closer to home as to why they lost last night. They just weren't good enough and got very little on target. Using words like 'travesty' is sour grapes in the extreme and makes him look like a deluded idiot.

A travesty? What game was he at? Their left wing was good but the rest distinctly average. Thought they were the slightly better team first half but no great shakes. Can't see them getting promoted through the playoffs.

When their player sidefooted completely wide from a few yards out it was never going to be their night. Reid was a constant danger, but other than that not much suggested their defeat was a travesty.

I think we were lucky that they were more hopeless in front of goal than we usually are. Didn't think they looked like a team pushing for promotion.

Agreed. We were the better side, so no travesty there. They were organised, but offered very little else apart from a pacy left winger. Their finishing was woeful too. This is a poor, poor league if they are a top 6 team.

to be quite honest I am sick to death of these Shite teams who Park the Bus and rely on opposition mistakes to win games, this league is driving me crazy because to watch it is total mind numbing. Oh how i wish we could have kept going an got out of the league to the Championship

I didn't think it was a travesty, although they did have the chance they side footed wide, but apart from that they certainly didn't set the world alight. It was a close game and we took the chance, they didn't.

He should try being a bit more humble like their fans, some of whom have been on this site and generally have offered fair opinions.

Between him and that lump up front, who usually has our number and was sent on to be overly physical with our centre backs, nothing pleases me more than to hear this.

The only travesty for them was the player who side footed it wide when it was easier to score!

I don't think it was a travesty but although we had a lot of posession they were more dangerous in attack, and Reid gave Phillips and Vincelot a torrid time. That was apoor miss by Clarke and RCC made some good saves and was picked MOTM by most people.

That being said, we scored a scortcher and went home happy, but thats football

If Reid could put a decent ball in more regularly than every 1 in 10 crosses he would be well above this level!

Didn't mind him crossing last night as they were shocking balls in, the one decent one he did was at the start of the 2nd half that flashes across our 6 yard box but no Bradford player was near.

I also thought their striker (Proctor?) was a handful too.

I had a girlfriend once who was a right handful up front, the left one wasn't as big though.

Yes, but how many times have we ben in that position, with people on here saying we couldn't put the ball in the net, we weren't good enough. You can't have it both ways.

"Travesty" would imply that they had been treated unfairly in some way (as in not being awarded a stone-wall penalty, or getting their keeper sent off in error). They just couldn't score. They lost. "That's football, Brian!"
