Dont get this sorry.

If a player plays badly just come on an post “can’t mention that I’m sure they’ll get better” for what? Their first ten games?

Sometimes established decent players have a stinker too, how many free pass games does a player get exactly?

I’ll just stick with: player plays well I’ll say they played well player plays badly I’ll say they played badly I think. Seems a lot easier.

Anyway, if you read my posts where apparently I was lagging Kane off I said “I’m not saying he won’t get better it takes a lot of players time to get to our level, just he was awful there”.

Just another run away SBT meme this.

You weren't saying he is playing badly last night, you were saying how crap he was.

We haven't conceded a go from the right hand side while he's been involved.
Two full games one assist, he was very involved in the first half last night but did suffer a tad with the final ball, just like Fankaty and Ian.

So I should say in match threads “he’s crap (but this only applies to his performance in this game we’re commenting on right now and may change in the future and this is in no way a statement on him as a human or his underlying potential)”?

Some of our cross field balls were stunning last night. There was one where we switched it left then switched it right that was beautiful.

What I wrote was that Moore was a gamble because he hadn’t played for ages and had never consistently performed at this level. And he was terrible first few games. Once he settled in he’s been outstanding, happy to hold my hands up on that one.

It’s not like some on here with Sheaf or Maatsen where they decided hes shit and spend an entire season downplaying everything they do.

I don’t buy the idea that teams play down one side because they’re targeting a player as opposed to that’s where they happen to play down. We played down the right a lot at times because Dabo and Hamer were on that side, not because all the opposition LBs were crap. And as I’ve been over many times I see WBs as midfielders primarily not defenders. 3412 not 5212.

Defensively Maatsen was all at sea in that first half, Kane wasn’t but you called the latter ‘awful’. He wasn’t but we’ll just agree to disagree.

yeah, great ball for O'Hare who I thought should have done better but watching the replay he was a bit unlucky.

Best thing about it, they aren’t just “vanity” passes, they are all mostly progressive in our play

to be fair to Shmmeee, and I don't agree with his assessment of Kanes performance, but he clearly hasn't written him off.
Read the follow up to his initial post.

We are still sometimes risking it with playing out from the back and nearly caught ourselves out a number of times. The more direct pinging it cross field or over the top was a joy to watch and easier on the blood pressure too

First half at Millwall he was awful

Players play badly for all sorts of reasons. There’s always an excuse.

Take it the other way, Hyam, who I generally don’t rate, was outstanding yesterday and really made me question my judgement that he’s not up to upper championship level. That said it was against a L1 team.

Walker, who I like a lot and on paper would have as our second striker has been poor when he’s been on this season and is making me question whether he’s up to it. Though he thrives on service and our final ball has been the one thing I think we need to improve this season.

The idea that I write players off is a nonsense. I might value different things in players (especially wing backs), but I don’t write anyone off.

Hyam was excellent against Reading who aren’t a League 1 side last time I checked.

The o hare miss where he tried to flick it in was the whole problem with him. Sometimes he needs to do the simple things
However you can’t drop him. The whole movement of the team is unbelievable

He needs to just put his boot through it rather than go for the side foot finesse he seems to prefer.

Third goal I was livid with Waghorn for not playing the obvious ball to put O'Hare through and instead playing it to Gyokeres who was surrounded by defenders and there was no chance- oh 3-0, that'll do me

That does get a bit heart in mouth though when you’ve got the opposition pressing and we’re still attempting triangles on the edge of the box.

Waghorn is a good player. If he adds goals he’ll be a class signing. Works well with Gyokeres - dare I say it, our strike force looks better with him and Gyokeres than it did with Godden

You talk about him as if he’s some sort of rookie - he’s played far more games at this level than Dabo and has been first choice for many teams on this league

No you say he's having a bad game. You go on and on that the player is garbage and then get made to look silly.

He was poor first half, didn’t know where to run, playing RB not RWB, leaving his man in space and not getting tackles in, missing easy passes, not beating men, a few poor crosses and that terrible shot. He’s also just not very lovable is he?

Got a lot better and showed why we signed him second half. The idea Dabo won’t get in ahead of him is laughable though. Dabs is a different level.

I’m surprised you’re getting that much stick from this. I also thought Kane was poor in the first half, and positionally you are correct, he was at RB and not RWB. When we came out for the second half I noticed he was much higher up the pitch and as a result got the ball in much more dangerous situations.

That cross for the 2nd goal though, Christ. I’m still panting now.

When he gets it right his crossing is probably the best in the team. The ball across for O’Hare first half was excellent too. It’s one thing I wish Maatsen would do, we don’t fill the box with aerial threat so the silly floated balls are never going to work. Hard and low and see what happens for me.

First half I thought he got forward plenty of times, he just hesitated quite a bit when he got the ball up there.

I feel like I’m picking on you, which I’m not! But the first goal came from (indirectly) a hard and low cross from Maatsen.

There were lots of times first half where Hyam had the ball and instead of pushing forwards and stretching the opposition and making space he hung back. He’ll learn how we play. He has a habit of tucking in and leaving the wide areas uncovered too.

He has hardly played for 6 months and he’s pacing himself through games until he reaches full fitness

he will have to over achieve as there’s some pre conceived bias against him for some reason.
