The Twitter chumps at Bristol City are getting excited that SkyBet have Crouch 2nd favourite to do to them! Silly season is right!

There is one here in Northampton though - only a 35 mile commute for him. It's been done before by Cov players!

Remember cries of 'Freak' from the west end when he appeared for Southampton I think.

He seems a good player and a good bloke and he's still good enough to play at Championship level.

Its only three strides for him from the coast!

I would normally put this down to someone smoking too much crack but i said the same about Joe Cole. Just hope we are not a dumping ground for the ex players, who next Chris Waddle!

Joking aside, he would be a great asset for us this season.

Wouldn't mind seeing him here on loan, he'd have a field day against L1 defences. Probably nothing in the rumour, though.

Difference is Cole was tipped to be the next best thing and sort of underachieved due to the English football culture he played in, he was never really given the opportunity at any club to play as a number 10 free of defensive duties and that hampered his career. That's why at the end of his career he has dropped to us because he wants one last chance to play football in his preferred position in a system that suits, which is what we're doing.

Peter Crouch in comparison had a very good career for someone of his abilities, playing in the Champions league (which I think he did with L'pool) and scoring at a world cup finals for England. This means he doesn't have to go looking for a team that suits and I'm sure would be happy in the championship still getting game time and on a larger pay packet.

Looooool! Have you been in the same queues as Steve today?! He's obviously not shit, is he?

I don't think it will happen though...there'd be a host of Championship Clubs keen to take him for the run in. Even some PL clubs.

Well, if there is substance to the rumour, and he turns us down publicly, at least it'll give us something to whinge about for a week...

Can someone ring Talk Sport and tell Adrian Durham. Oh and apparently Jamaine Defoe could be on the move too, now he is Joe Cole's mate and his manager big Sam Alladyce likes us !

He is decent at any level hes played at, including England. Very underated IMO. However, I cant see this happening, more so because of the twitter link.

Would welcome him though if he did.

Would be an amazing signing, he is a family man not far from Coventry. He could go to Wolves however as they just sold Afobe to Bournmouth for 10m. He would be great up front as long as our wingers learn how to cross. Very few of our goals this season have been from crosses to players scoring with headers.

We DIDN'T get him?

I was going to say he had great skill for a man his size and would be outstanding at this level, but now he's not coming I think we should focus on the fact that he is a talentless, lanky streak of piss who couldn't punch a hole in a paper bag after 7 attempts, let alone find the back of the net once a season.
