New 16-20 year old scout

Anyone know anything about him?

CITY APPOINT NEW RECUITMENT CO-ORDINATOR

Coventry City have appointed Pete Wilding as their new 16-20 year old recruitment co-ordinator.

The Sky Blues are keen to bring in talent in that age group as seen in the last transfer window with the signings of Josh Reid and Fabio Tavares, and they had advertised the role as a full time job.

Pete Wilding from Shrewsbury, is well known as a scout and is now tasked with looking for players for Coventry City.

"Hey boss, Coventry have hired a new scout, do you think it would be a good story for tomorrow's paper?"
"Yes, but only if it's accompanied by a picture of him at a German Christmas market with the ghost of Peter Reid"

I agree, 7 years at Stoke, that would have made him 9-13 year old when he started there.

It’s a really good appointment and a critical age group to scout for talent on the cusp on making it into the first team with the right development.

I wonder whether he tipped us off about Josh Reid too, with a name like Wildling he'll have a lot of connections north of the wall.

I'm not saying he's a bad appointment, he has the experience after all but... Stoke weren't exactly renowned for the youth of their side, so why are people saying he's a really good appointment? What players came through at Stoke during his time there?

We recruited him because he has no experience, has a reputation for being crap at his job and because he was useless at Stoke.
Doh !

Now where did I say that?!?

However, I was hoping that one of the people saying it was a really good appointment would tell me the list of Stoke star youth he'd unearthed, to help me out! They clearly have more knowledge of his track record than I, after all.

Apologies.
I shouldn`t be sarcastic this early in the morning but have just had 1 hour on teams talking with two idiots in an Indian Ship yard and it wound me up.

For me it’s just looking at the future and investing long term. It’s sort of an answer to Grendel and Adge about where’s the progress and we are going nowhere with these owners etc etc. This says actually there’s a plan. I know it’s slim pickings of course

Some Stoke signings I could find:
- Nathan Collins - CB - signed from Ireland aged 16. Now arguably the Championship's best CB prospect.
- Thibaud Verlinden - RW - signed from Belgium aged 16. Now playing in Eredivise. Unlucky with injuries.
- Tyrese Campbell - ST - signed from Man City's academy aged 16. Very good striker with 14 goal involvements this season in the Champ.
- Harry Souttar - CB - signed from Dundee Utd aged 17. Played 22 games in the Championship this season.
- Josh Tymon - LB - signed from Hull. 14 games in the Champ this season.

That's a decent pedigree.

Think he has been recruited to concentrate on the 14 to 16 year olds it is 16 year olds who get scholarships I don’t think there are too many in that group up to scratch, there is a very good goalkeeper prospect I believe.

There has been a bit of a change round at the Acadamy the last 12 months with a new Acadamy manager he will be shuffling the deck chairs a bit I suppose.
