Best manager in the world or just extremely lucky to have some of the best players of this generation.

At the moment it looks like the latter.

Not convinced yet. That said if aguero had his shooting boots on or Sterling could cross they would still be in the draw

you dont play the brand of football barca did in 08-10 by being lucky.it changed the game as we know it. i watched in awe as when a huge opposition team finnaly got the ball they shit themselves as they knew soon as barca got it back that was it for another 10 min spell. also impresive that he replicate it at bayern and man city too so quickly.

yes the prem is more competitive and yes hes finnaly gone out before semis but its also his first year. i think he is a quality manager

I don't think a manager would be continually trusted with some of the world's best players and a boatload of cash if they weren't pretty good themselves, that'd be found out pretty swiftly.

I agree re his changing football forever with the way his Barca team played. Absolutely the best team of their generation playing beautiful football. But I think his getting rid of Hart (well loaning him out) showed he has a weakness...picking a keeper for his ball playing skills rather than his ability to keep clean sheets was I believe fool hardy. To be fair I think I could manage Man City to a top 10 finish. I might even have got his Barca side to a champions league second stage.
personally though I believe the best managers are those who take average players and make them significantly better and/or create a side far better than the sum of its parts...step forward Brian clough, Jimmy hill and of this generation Eddie Howe.

Naive agaisnt Monaco, no plan B, Monaco sat off and allowed Man City to score, the tiki-taka form the 2008 have gone and its evolved into different tactics, he was tactically naive and should have shut up shop a lil more than they did.

He has also tried to replicate it without one key ingredient Messi the worlds best player.

He may well but he will have to change as the league won't change to suit him, he needs to swallow his pride and get Joe Hart back in goal as the others may kick it better but they don't save it as well. He also needs to bring in some players that suit the formation as he is playing far too many out of position.

A lot of his success is down to youth set up at Barca which was implemented by Cruyff however he dominated Europe with his Barca team, he dominated Germany with Bayern, which isnt as easy as not every foreign manager has done so. At Man City, he has a young team, its his biggest challenge to date. So, to suggest he has no talent and struck lucky is a tad harsh. Dont forget he struggled initially at Bayern, he is learning here and will get it right IMO.

It's not guaranteed that they will be in the champions league next season and that would be a shock.

The problem he has is the reputation that follows him as being the best coach in the world. At Barca he had one of the best teams ever assembled and at Bayern the resources to completely overwhelm the league. The premier league, while not necessarily better quality, is more competitive and it's proving a challenge to him.

The way people talk about him you'd expect him to sweep the league away but he's doing no better than Pellegrini or Mancini did and it does beg the question how many other managers could succeed with the teams he had previously.

More questions than answers at the moment but he will need to see significant improvement next season to maintain his status. Remember he is the best paid coach in the world and at the moment isn't really earning the money.

He has gone from two leagues where you only have 'a game' 10 times a season max to having a competitive game every week. The guy is quality but will take some time to get right. Major clear out needed however

Also teams that are given a lot of help from referees, there can't be a team in history who get as many penalties and free kicks as Barcelona
