If we got lucky with the penalty they got lucky with the hand ball.

No way was it a pen but who cares, it's about time we had some luck

Everybody round me in block 20 couldn't believe the penalty being given but I haven't seen a replay yet. If the pubdits on Sky said it was nailed on then so be it.
At least we're still in the tie although we need a better game plan next Friday.

Clear pen. All day long.

No stamp from Davies either. Accidentally treads on his leg.

I want that in the ref's report and it posted immediately to a Mr. K Nolan, first class.

I’m going to stick up for the ref. From the angles shown on tv it wasn’t a foul so no penalty, but from his angle which was directly behind the two players and at full speed you can see it looked a foul, I also think considering the horrible conditions he reffed okay. You can always pick out bits and pieces but overall he did alright.

Stonewall pen

You can only see it clear on the last replay, which shows the view from directly behind the players. Notts county defender clearly goes through Bayliss right boot to get the ball.

Great decision by the ref

The officials were bang on with off side decisions and didn't penalise well timed runs.

I thought it was ball to hand, headed onto the back of his arm so got that right.

The foul on McNulty? McNulty stretching the County players shirt didn't help his cause.

Got penalty wrong.

Stokes booking was harsh. Missed a couple of cynical block offs by County players.

Over all I have seen far worse refs and linesmen.

I think it’s the refs positioning that makes it hard to see. I’m sure he has two Notts players infront of him and has a view from behind.

He sees a leg go out and a clip on the ankle

It’s an error but not the worst you have ever seen.

It was a penalty.

The referee was absolutely awful last night, he offered zero protection and was inconsistent in his decision making.

The choice of referee for the next game is vital.

Exactly!

Some are talking about a total injustice and the worst decision ever, but it's clear to why the ref gave it.

I didn't think it was a pen at the time, but there is some contact.

Soft for sure, but we have had just as soft against us and it most certainly wasn't the abomination some are saying it was.

It was never a penalty there was no contact until the ball was played and the angle the ball went was a clue. As was our players asking for a corner!

I agree.

I said it wasn't a pen. Just saying I can see why the ref gave it.

My response was the exact same as their right backs. I couldn’t believe it was given, especially with more obvious challenges not given!

Isn’t the first time he’s gone down easily in the box, and won’t be the last, same with McNulty. Referees are stupid enough to fall for it at all levels. He was certainly duped by Notts County players numerous times.

The pen Willis gave to Stoke springs to mind of very soft pens against us

Didn't think it was a pen at the game but looking at the replay I'm not so sure. These days they say the slightest bit of contact is a pen and it looks like Bayliss foot could have been touched.

Would prefer to go back to the days of it needing to be an actual foul rather than any contact but if that's what they're being given for then things like this will be given.

To be fair we got nothing off the ref all night until that.

For a foul nowadays I’m not even sure there has to be contact...just intent or ‘dangerous’. It seems crazy to me.

Having said that, there’s no way that’s a pen. Fuck ‘em.
I’m enjoying this no ‘away goals’ thing too.

Tootle deliberately stepped across McNulty in the first half when he would’ve been thru, he got away with it, McNulty got penalised and Doyle got booked for complaining.
Don’t cry when karma comes around and bites you later..

Well Duffy certainly got up quick enough to remonstrate with the ref.? Lot of players would have still been rolling around today if they had that happen to them. Fair play to Duffy definitely a mans mans in the football parlance

I thought it was a penalty after watching it back. The argument was that the ball changed direction, but that's only because their lad kicked Bayliss' foot at the ball

Still can’t believe anyone, apart from the ref, thought that it was a pen.

I can see why the ref thought it was a pen though.

From the last angle on the video which is roughly the same view the ref it looks as if he swipes his leg into Bayliss' legs. Never a penalty but I can see why it's been given from where the ref was standing.

fuck me dont you buggers want the City to get promoted??? ..........shouldn't be a pen, Davies should be banned, play the game nicely, what fecking next???

We need to go up at ANY cost, feck all the others. County will do anything to get there,as we've seen, so should we.

dont be fecking wimps and apologise for a dodgy decision, they happen and we need to take every one.

I genuinely think the fans got us that pen - booing all the bad refereeing decisions - getting on his back - sarcastic cheers when one goes our way...

If we we're away that penalty is never given - the true meaning of home advantage.

Why don't refs wear body cameras like Rugby refs do? Would be interesting to see incidents from the refs perspective/direct eyeline after games rather than simply looking at said incidents from the best angle

I do think from the angle he was looking from - there may have been a player slightly in his line of sight - it would have looked as if Bayliss got his left foot on the ball and the player took him out.

I'm certainly not complaining

You've answered your own question there. If everyone could see what the ref did there would be even more questions about the dodgy decisions and it would be a lot harder for the league to ignore the poor standard of officiating.

Well in that case you could say in turn it would surely entice the FA to up the standard of refereeing in the country then because by that logic you're effectively saying the league is brushing an evident problem of employing substandard referees under the carpet?

That’s why the FA deploy punishment after a game via video evidence because the refereeing is so so poor nowadays
