Somebody said we'd missed 7 out of the last 8 Pens.

Just simply not good enough-esp as we'd have probably gone on to win tonight's game if JOB had simply put his foot through it.

Maddison would've have been the main penalty taker no doubt but I would have thought that Armstrong will now take over.

Who the fook takes one of we get one on Sunday!!

i dont see the logic in JOB taking them when he has a history of missing yet we have a striker on the field who has scored 5 this season

Can't remember the last one we scored but was reeling off the missed ones in the car on way home........ JOB tonight, big German fella at Crawley, Gaz Madine ?, Reda against Worcester, Tudguy at Walsall, Lamires against Rochdale doesn't count as it wasn't in play, any others?

madine scored one at Gillingham , think im wrong looking back at the records dont think JOB has missed one before swear i can remember him missing though ¬_¬

Yep, Madine scored at Gillingham but then missed one a week later.

Big Nick, Reda and Tudgay all missed last season.

Just took a search online, seems as if O'Brien has missed a few at his other clubs.

I think the missing run extends back to the year before as well. Baker and Wilson missed near the end of the previous season before last I think.

TM said JOB had been banging penalties away for fun in training, was it not a good save tonight? plus the keeper psyched him out beforehand.

Penalties should be a goal 85% of the time. Scoring from 12 yards should be the simplest of tasks for any professional footballer. I cannot believe this glaring failure from last season has not been corrected. Three points thrown away.

All that pissing about before the penalty is taken annoys me like when the keeper was standing next to the goal for ages, my view is if he is standing outside the goal the ref should blow the whistle and the kick is taken.

absolute madenss that JOB, i love him as a player but he has missed previous pens and we have a young hungry striker who is absolutely brimming with confidence & scoring for fun ( although i dont think he was at his best last night ) in Adam Armstrong, so why he wasnt given the pen i just dont know

They are if against us if not higher, our goalie never looks like saving them yet theirs does every time.

It lacked a bit of pace, but their keeper still made a very good save because it was low and right in the corner. His save off the last kick of the game was superb and he made another really good save in the second half. We gave them two cheap goals making the task difficult for ourselves. That was the difference between the two sides.

Psychological ploy. Mind games. Stand away from the goal and let the player stare at the big wide open goal in front of him. Then last second, take your place and become the obstacle to make the goal seem that bit smaller.

Bleedin obvious, obviously, but it's amazing what little tricks can do to your mind. Their keeper did an excellent job of trying to out O'Brien off and it clearly worked.

It was millwall after 4 minutes.

Tbf to JOB the keeper saves the penalty. That's what he is meant to do. JOB Didn't miss the penalty and it was saved. That's life. He can't do anymore than hit the target. If he skies it then fine but he put it bottom corner and it was saved. That's football.

TM said in his post match interview that we may have slipped up. Throughout his managerial career he has always instructed his strikers to take pens which would always be my choice. Your strikers score the goals, they are the best at finishing, their confidence is bred from goal scoring. Easy to say now JOB missed last night and as TM said, he has been scoring them all week in training.

O'Brien is a strong and pushy character and much improved this season as a player for me..................that penalty though was pathetic and he shouldn't be taking any more. Armstrong looked a tad sulky to me for stretches last night and I wonder if he thought he should have taken it ?

Hopefully, every striker ideally should spend a lot of the game pissed off that they don't get every chance on goal possible.

Throughout my amateur career I would score nearly every penalty I can think of in training but in a match, half and half because of pressure. In saying that, judging on a player to see if he can take them or not, what else can TM go on other than training. Should be your strikers though.

In the good old days Killer took the penaltys. More about attitude than anything else. Why do England always lose to them? etc We won in the JPT something like 14-12 a couple of years ago. Since then our penaltys have gone to pot. Are players remembering/being told that? or did we just use up all our luck in one go.

Totally agree. Who has the best shot on him in our squad? Has to be Armstrong, the goalscorer. Should have been him.

I took quite a few and missed two one was straight at the goalie and the other would probably have missed another goal

Agree with this, he should get every chance possible to keep his scoring run going and keep that confidence up.
