How far have we come? If we are in "the lower leagues" can you really, serously call anything we achieve here progress?

I believe you can. Just look at this quote from the Crewe 'Keeper about his experience at The Ricoh, after playing against Coventry

"It was one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever played in. When they sang their own song, it was so loud and that noise can inspire you.
“It was a good night for us but this tie is far from over. We have a tough game coming up against them again because they are a good side.
“Can we make as much noise as they did for them at our ground? We need the fans to come and get behind us and if they do then it would help us.”

This fella is talking about apathetic, underachieving, sleeping giant Coventry City and their hurting, success starved fans. Take away the hype and the disapointment of the result and you find that this is progress.

Last season was the worst I've ever experienced as a Coventry fan - even after relegation from the Premier League. Attendances had dropped significantly, our manager rarely spoke with substaince and had but the one tactic, by the end of the season, we had no chairman and the third board in 2 years, we couldn't buy a win and our fans were filled with so much pain that they turned on eachother.

Now look at us - 4 goals away from Wembley, and not only when you bump into people, they actually want to talk Sky Blues with you, they believe we can do it!! We have an accomplished manager, fans are starting to come back and it feels like we're building. When players say to the press that they love it here, it's actually plausable.

There are still a lot of questions to be answered and still encertain times ahead, but we here at Coventry, can see some sunshine on the horizon at last!!

Complete agree with you Willie!

Fan's aren't ashamed to be supporters of the Sky Blues anymore (as I know a fair few who were) and want to get down to the stadium to watch them play again!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and with Robins I believe anything is possible!

PUSB! MR SKY BLUE ARMY!

Agree with this to an extent WS, and the record breaking attendance is genuinely something to be proud of. However, I still find it difficult to take pride in having play-off six pointers with Yeovil, or scraping past the mighty Tranmere-yes it's arrogant, but it comes from how bitterly I don't want this club to be in this league. Returning the club to the league they found it in is not a success on SISU's part.

Saying that-it really is nice to hear things like 'The City're doing well ain't they?' and 'How about that Mark Robins eh?' rather than 'I go up because I feel like I have to'. The real bright spot to this season is Robins' appointment, no question; the only shame is he wasn't appointed sooner.

I have Bn working in birmingham, I wear my city jumper, and people mention how well we doing at the moment, after Tuesday night they were shocked to hear how many shots we had, but I happily said "you watch this space, it's not over yet"

I still get anxious and think "not going to happen" and it does, I still think "could have played better" and MR comes out after a win and says "we could have Bn better"

I believe with MR at the helms we can go far, and I can keep my head held high and be glad we winning

Love that! No PSGM1 in sight to tell us MR is a pile of crap and that we should sign up Dennis Wise right now!

Seems the Troll has stayed under his bridge!! :D

Exactly...I just can't get excited about the JPT, we shouldn't even be in it - as soon as people start accepting that we are an L1 club, it becomes acceptable and then accepted. We should not be satisfied with where we are, or even by getting into the Champ again - we are a Premier League club in exile, surviving on bread and water - until we get back into the PL I won't be happy that the club is performing to a reasonable level.

That's not arrogance, we have no right to be in the PL - but with better ownership policies we could be back there now.

Again, don't get me wrong-I really love seeing my team do well; but I just can't get past thinking that it's a disgrace we're even in this league in the first place. It's arrogant, it's disrespectful to the opposition, but it's how I feel-and it's because I want our stay in L1 to be as brief as physically possible.

A mate who used to have a season ticket went up to the Crewe game. i fully expected him to be on the teams back and refuse to go up again.
But he text me the next day with the following: "Mate, are you going up saturday, I can't believe how well we played. Can't wait for Yeovil!"

Love it.

I was bitterly disappointed after the Crewe match, but I said to my Dad as we were walking out that people have no reason to be angry with the team or the manager after that result as the general progress made since Robins came in has been excellent.

When you look at where we were after Shaw's disastrous stint, Leroy Rosenior said that the best we can hope for is a 20th place finish. Look at us now, although other teams have got games in hand we're 1 point outside the play-offs with many more points yet to play for.

Even if we don't make it to the play-offs this season, I am fully confident that if we can keep Robins and the core of this team then we'll walk this league next season!

I was dissappointed with the Crewe result but its not the league and thats what matters.

I am also walking with a slight spring in my step when talking about City as we seem to be a team for a change and, eventhough we are in a lower league its good to feel better than the Liverpool, Aston Villa and Birmingham City fans in the office for a change.

My personal opinion is that promotion is a zseason to early for us this year but, if we keep hold of Robins and most of the squad I see us being a real contender in 2013-14. It would be nice to sneak into the playoffs though and shake that tag of being the only team in the last how many years not to have a top 6 finish.

We have to be realistic as to where we are, we were simply not good enough to be in the championship and were quite rightfully relegated from the league, before that we have struggled in the league and at best achived mid table mediocrity bar one season (which wasnt even playoffs). This was the reality that we live in so fans are right to jump on each bit of success, a win for us on a saturday means so much to fans even if it is against a Yeovil or Doncaster, it doesnt matter. Man Utd expect to win each game and not suprised when they do, we 'enjoy the win' alot more than they do because of the constant failure we have received as fans throughout the years.

Now players have renewed belief in they can win games, we just need people to come back and support the lads to the playoffs.
