Bit of an odd decision really. Never got why a club would sack a manager and then appoint someone from their backroom on a permanent or semi permanent basis. 6 managers sacked in about 3 years. Think we should add Al Hasawi to the list of unsatisfactory owners to the other thread. The fans have been getting more and more tired of him in the last year or so. I'd bet my bottom dollar things would be a lot different there if Doughty hadn't sadly passed away. Now he was a good owner and one of football's true gents.

Yup, although I missed that out as we didn't sack him then.
Not sure Nilsson would count as 'backroom' but sacking Strachan and appointing the backroom of him with Money worked well. It was bringing the outsider Smith in that did for us!
Freedman, great example of someone thinking the grass is greener, leaves Palace for Bolton and its gone south since. Another one of these managers wins some games and suddenly is being given offers all over the place, so much talent in the lower leagues, give them a chance ffs.
