JON PARKIN will be allowed to leave Cardiff City when the next loan transfer window re-opens, report in Wales claim.

The big striker - known as The Beast - saw a move to Coventry City collapse on transfer deadline day when he was unable to agree personal terms.

The collapse of the planned move - who was originally part of Ben Turner's now-completed switch to the Bluebirds - leaves Parkin stuck on the sidelines at Cardiff.

However Wales Online reports that the targetman could go out on a short-term move when the loan window opens next week.


It is believed that Coventry City will not revive their interest in the player though.





:thinking about: Hmmm, trying to work this one out. If we couldn't agree personal terms that you would have thought that would have been down to wage demands. If he is now available out on loan then the wage situation isn't the same factor as the parent club usually pays at least part of the wages.


Maybe we don't want him because Juke stayed?

Any other reason why we wanted him but now don't?

what about AT not wanting him, but Cardiff insisting we take him as part of Turner deal.

Makes sense in terms of no additional value when he wasnt in the deal and also why we were in the market for cody at the same time as aonther striker was having a medical and we were going to keep Juke.

I think more likely that Cardiff can't afford to be subsidising, or his wages are so high we still couldn't manage

Maybe they want whoever is taking him to pay his entire weekly wage.

Isn't he going to fail a medical elsewhere too though or because it's loan does that null and void that somehow with you being able to send the player back to his club should he get injured?

funny isnt it...Parkin who played the week before in the cup failed a medical, yet turner who hasnt played since the war, passed his !

I have a feeling he may have been part of the turner deal and we were maybe using him as a back up if cody did not come here so we would have at least got a striker in but once cody was a definate signing we did not want/need him anymore and the turner price had nothing to do with it.
It may have been cardiffs sweetner that we gave them first dibs on turner due to the fact we would get parkin in return, just a thought..

Kevin Drinkell stated in his book that his "medical" prior to joining Cov was simply a letter from his GP stating that he was fit!!!
No wonder he was such a cr@p player for us.
Hopefully we have improved the medical screening for new players.

There was a prem physio on Talksport recently, a well known experienced physio who's name I can't recall, he was answering listeners questions, one of which was ''what exactly does a medical entail and what is the criteria to fail a medical''

He said that a medical is a thorough examination of the player, the information is then given to the decision makers at the club and it is totally their decision from then, so basically a player could turn up for his medical with a broken leg but it is still the clubs decision whether the player fails the medical or not, there is no set procedure or test.

Much more likely we didn't want to meet fatboy's wage demands, and rightly so. Still I bet 5k per week plus a Nando's membership would have probably done it, especially with a bacon sandwich per goal bonus.

I doubt we'll get him, but before many of you so easily dismiss him, ask yourself one question - Is he better than some of our current options? I believe he is and therefore he improves us. Any chance you have to improve you should grasp. I'm not suggesting he's Rooney but he would certainly get into our matchday squad and possibly the first XI so I would welcome him.

He's not better than Jutkiewicz (not to mention a lot older) and wouldn't be a good partner IMO, so therefore we shouldn't sign him. Any signing should be better than the player in that position we have, and ideally one of the best players in the squad, otherwise what's the point?

Injuries, suspensions and loss of form mean that tThe game is about a squad not a team. I agree he's probably not better than Juke but he's certainly better than Eastwood, Jeffers, Platt and O'Donovan. Maybe even an unproven McDonald at this level (I hope not, but no guarantee so can't yet comment). Based on that he would be a great acquisition imo.
