On Sunday, October 30, 1938, millions of radio listeners were shocked when radio news alerts announced the arrival of Martians. They panicked when they learned of the Martians' ferocious and seemingly unstoppable attackon Earth. Many ran out of their homes screaming while others packed up their cars and fled.

Though what the radio listeners heard was a portion of OrsonWelles' adaptation of the well-known book, War of the Worlds by H.G.Wells, many of the listeners believed what they heard on the radio was real.

On a dark and cold Monday evening it seems a similar thing happened in Coventry. A single tweet led to mass panic in Coventry. Grown men seemed to be crying, others were angry, some feared for their children.

Again alien abduction was to blame. The East Anglian species from Norwich had kidnapped a certain James Maddison and meltdown ensued.

There were more threads started than Maddison has had hot dinners (or league games come to that). Some posters even threatened to go and follow him as he seems more important than the team

So now the dust has settled (well some normality has returned)was this a case of mass hysteria or abduction?

Well some people seemed to think that the fee was a “disgrace” –but no one actually seemed to know what he fee was. Curious. It seems that thefee for some was never going to be enough. I think the highest quoted on here I have seen is £20 million which almost equals the fees Newcastle paid for two internationalswith Premier League experience. Some quote the fee MK Dons received from Tottenham but that was for a player with far more experience. Strange.

Another odd thing appears to be that the clubs is weaker. Yet 24hours on we have two more players and the services of the superstar we have sold (who sometimes was relegated to the bench) remains to play until the end of the season. Gets more disturbing.

Strangely Sisu seem to have pocketed the cash. I say strange because if that was the case then surely those posting would be happy to see the fee aslow as possible. After all it all goes to the Cayman Islands anyway doesn’t it ?Nothing goes to poor old TM. Odd.

A few old faces returned pitchforks in hand. Some regular posters resorted to more typical type. I almost expected Sky Blue John and Bigfatron to make an appearance.

So what actually happened? Well some guy who has played a fewgames for a League One team was sold to a Premier League Team for what seems alot of money. Oh and the team that sold has always sold its best players (not that this player is necessarily one of the best as I doubt he will be Player of the Year)

Orson Welles would have been proud of that tweet……………….

I like the OP, although, unfortunately it doesn't address the most convincing and compelling counter argument that was raised earlier today;

Maddison was seemingly sold for considerably less than a Mouawad 1001 Nights handbag....

The word is awesome not fearsome. Whereas for Grendull it's lonesome. As his OP proves.

What I don’t get G is that you spend a lot of time around here spouting off about other people not being genuine fans, just because they don’t meet some invisible quota of posts on a match day. Yet you seem to be brushing off the sale of Maddison as if it didn’t bother you one way or the other. Is supporting the Sky Blues such an unemotional thing for you?

How can you find it such a non-event when the club sells the finest young talent it has produced? In the cold light of day, and reading what Anderson has said about committing the money to the football side of things, I am less unhappy than I was. But my reaction as even as an old and hardened fan remains one of anger and huge disappointment, and for the younger supporters it’s very hard to accept. Why take the piss out of people for it?

There is a bit of an over reaction from grown men though talking about wounds etc.

I must admit Maddison going hasn't bothered me, I get much more bothered at matches when we let in sloppy goals and lose as that can ruin weekends.

On a dark and cold evening it seems a similar thing happened in Coventry. A single article led to mass panic in Coventry. Grown men seemed to be crying, others were angry, some feared for their children.

This time the axis of all evil AKA CCC had coordinated a conspiracy to plant a time capsule in the ground to erase all memory of CCFC. If the hype and rumours were true in 50 years time when the momentous event of digging up this capsile happened, nobody would know CCFC existed!!!!!!!!

The outrage engulfed the site and thread gained pace and momentum. However it turned out this was a case of mass hysteria and CCFC will be remembered in 50 years time. You still have the odd stalwart finding a conspiracy in it somewhere suggesting the time capsule was exhumed in the middle of the night. The item planted in to remember CCFC by was a devious attack as it mentioned Northampton!!!!

The article was a PR article that would have grabbed very little interest. The irony is those posters with pitchforks at the ready gave it media sensation status for the day. So their agenda of attacking the axis of evil was actually helping it achieve its aim of promoting the development. Strange

Orson Welles would have been proud of that PR……………….[/QUOTE]
