That clip just shows the difference in quality between Palmer and Allen, and it wasn't the only great bit of play from Palmer. Must say though that Allen did work so hard again last night.

In fairness to Allen if he'd brought that down and scored in two touches it would be a really top class goal

Yeah, his touch took the ball the wrong way back inside onto his left foot, giving the defenders chance to get back. He either needed to hit it first time or his first touch to keep it on his right foot for the shot.

I've been massively critical of him, and I do think he has a lot to prove. That being said some of his passes last night were really good. He did a no look pass at one stage which was so good I think it caught Vik out.

For balance, he did also miss place a lot, and that sitter was embarrassing, but I am seeing an improvement with him week by week. His work rate off the ball has been good in my opinion as well, he certainly seems to want it enough. I think when he is stood next to O'Hare anybody is going to look less interested, and to be fair to him I think by the end of the game he was absolutely shattered.

the "sitter" if you watch the highlights wasn't that bad

he cut back on his left as when he went to shoot with his right there's a defender and the keeper right in front of him

I'm pretty sure the 'sitter' was missed because the defender on the floor slapped it away with his hand as Palmer was about to pull the trigger. Palmer was the only one who could've seen it and if there's footage, you'll see Palmer appealing like mad, both arms in the air while no one else noticed it.

The guy hasn’t had a run of games in well over a season to be fair to him, I thought O’Hare looked rusty as well in his cameos so far.

Hopefully the one benefit to all our forwards getting injured is he’ll get more game time quicker.

No idea how he still has any doubters.

It’s like as fans we don’t like actual footballers; Sheaf being the most recent, and somehow COH still has the odd doubter.

It’s been said multiple times and for weeks, but our midfield four behind Gyokeres is incredibly strong and is absolutely capable of playing great football and creating chance after chance.

I think he’s fantastic. Started off the season a bit rusty, which was to be expected. But he’s shown no end of quality and unbelievable work rate with it. Everything doesn’t come off, but you’re surely not expecting it to with players that are maybe trying some more difficult passes etc

Mental anyone thinks Palmer is lazy! The man clatters into people, dogs after players and make a real pain of himself off the ball. Excellent energy.

Honestly think some people are watching a different game. Either that or aren't watching at all and are just regurgitating what some salty Bristol City fans said about him.

Some of his touches and passes on Tuesday were amazing. Cannot wait to watch him, Hamer and O'Hare to link up more regularly

I’ve been pleasantly surprised he’s done better for us than I’d expected, I honestly thought he’d be on the physio bed with Godden, Kelly, Waghorn and Dabo by now… especially after the potato peeler blister scenario when he first joined

If he can continue to stay fit and not get injured I do feel there’s definitely a player we have who can do a job for us. He wouldn’t be in my starting line up but definitely a worthwhile option off the bench and strength in depth is what we need

A number of so-called fans on here tend to criticise new signings initially then back off Jake Bidwell being a prime example and even Vik in his earlydays, Palmer was our only permanent signing coming back from a long term injury I believe, going to be a major player for us.

If robins and viveash get the best out of palmer and he stays fit and committed then I’m sure he will become one of the first names on the team sheet.
I thought when he came he might just not be interested but he has put himself about on the pitch, controlled aggression when needed, shown some great touches and vision and has a good range of passes (and yes some have been misplaced). Most importantly though he seems one of the group not someone on the outside…seems to be enjoying his football.

Best signing in a long time, exactly what we needed as well, someone like O' Hare who can unlock defences. I think (like most people here) that a midfield of Sheaf, Hamer, Palmer & O'Hare behind Vik is as good as anything in this division.

I think he’s certainly shown exactly why no manager ever trusts him to start games. Decent impact sub, hopeless defensively

O’Hare obviously.

When at full strength I’d rather play two up top than two AM.

Last season we didn’t have a backup when O’Hare needed a rest and that shown throughout the season, now we do

I'm hoping Kane at RWB
Palmer and O'Hare at AM behind Gyo

I mentioned when at full strength… which would be Godden for me which hopefully he’d rediscover his previous form and obviously not injured but come end of the season and the transfer window we really need to have a complete turnaround… who knows who that second striker could be. But still, Palmer would be a great option off the bench

I dont think Godden will refind his previous form, I think he is probably now on the decline not helped by injuries. i would start Palmer and O’hare
