Hi Sky Blues fans, as the title says I am a palace fan. Some of you might have noticed that we're announcing plans to possibly relocate to a new stadium in the near future.

This has caused the usual bickering about soulless new stadiums, nice new facilities, lack of atmosphere, nice new surroundings to draw players and new supporters etc on our boards.

On our main Forum the HOL we are discussing these points and someone sad why don't we ask Coventry, Swansea fans etc what they think about moving to pastures new.

So how is it? Do you miss the old stadium? Is the atmoshpere the same? Better or worse etc?

That's all really. Good luck for the season. You'll finish higher than us for sure

Hey,

I personally miss the old ground as I think it did have a bit more of an atmosphere even with the same attendances.

I think it probably matches with the time about rules changing but at the old ground you could take your beer out to watch the game with your pie and stand up in the West Terrace all the way through to watch.

Even though the new ground is in walking distance, I do miss the old ground.

It helps a lot if you own your own stadium for a start!!
The atmosphere compared to Highfield Rd is non existent. We try but as away fans are placed so far away you don't really get any banter with them! This is obviously club dependant as it could be completely different for your lot!
Facilities are alright, but I can't really comment on what they were like before as I was too little really!
The positioning of our stadium is okay for away fans being close to the motorway, but Highfield Rd was so much easier to get to!

At the end of the day, a stadium's just a stadium, it's the fans that make it home

The other thing is at the old ground our fans were behind both goals.

I never went to Highfield but I have been to the Ricoh and I thought it was a nice stadium

I am in the pro camp for moving as I like new stadiums, and lets be frank. Selhurst is a dive! But many say they would hate a carbon copy bowl arena etc and so on...

Highfield road had a better atmosphere, but The Ricoh has better acccess and views, and toilets.

If we could average 25000 a game then I would choose the ricoh all the way as when it's packed it's got a good atmosphere. But I've always wondered with all the money they spent on the ricoh, they could of bought all the houses around Highfield Road and redeveloped that. If you club's going to get improved attendances out of a new stadium then they should defiantly go for it. But if it's going to be the same, what's the point?
