They have the most unthrearening corner physically possible and we still somehow fail to get it away. Who was that who shanked it?

What an awful half of football that was. Neither team really displaying much in front of goal.

Dramatic. We have had the best chance of the game and a strike force starting their first ever game together.

It’s still shite no matter how much you fluff it up or try to make excuses

And I missed the first 20 mins and relied on CWR

As much as predictably Charlie says we've been awful, Oxford haven't had a real chance.

No it was after Baptiste got booted in the back of the head by Doyle

I’m switching between the game and a 10 year old repeat of location location - I’m even starting to find Kirsty Alsop the most attractive option on show

He's dropped andreu to play Chaplin in the same position.

Pretty dull game but we can definitely win this.

Bayliss doesn't put himself about enough to play in a midfield two. Would rather Ogogo plays alongside Doyle with Bayliss further up the pitch.

Wonder if Kelly will replace Doyle when he is fit. Or play along side him.

we really need to play better football on the floor. We did really well last year with out having to hoof it about

Doyle is undermining our whole team. Chasing shadows and rarely further than 10 yards away from our back 4 which is ok if he's mopping up knock downs but they are playing football. Bayliss is having to cover half a pitch on his own and so we're overrun in the middle and can't play as a team. So we have to go long to bypass the midfield or try and counter using Thomas' speed. It's not a gameplan though, just a consequence of carrying a 37 year old in a key part of the pitch. We won't do anything this season while we persist with him as a starter. Get him off fucking set pieces too.

The only positive from that half is that we are not losing.

Maybe the game play is to see out the first 45 then step it up. Doyle or Willis playing 60 yard hoofs then no one holding it up or picking up the second ball. It's awful to watch. What have we worked on the last week?

Why do we don’t pass the ball through the middle instead of pump it up the front?

We need to give Allassani a chance. Can't be worse than this. We have no creativity, no threat. If we carry on like this all season we will be in and around relegation. Time for that to change yet but feel we need to try something a bit different.

Nothing to do with the strikers. See my earlier post and Esoterica's. The fundamental problem is not poor strikers it's a hampered midfield

Nope, fortunately they don't look great either. Play like this against better teams and we'll lose comfortably.

I don't think there's a lot in it, got a feeling one goal will win it for either side with the lack of quality going forward. An early goal second half would do the trick.

Maybe allassani is injured? If he was dropped he would have played u23 surely?

It's definitely tactics rather than personnel.

That's exactly it. We played a lot of good football last year, I know it was a league lower, but that was us at our best. This hoof ball just isn't working for us. We've not got enough presence up top for it to work.

Is it me, or does Kelly pick up 'not so bad' injuries but is out for a longer time than usual?

Not a bad half. Chaplin looks lively. Brown had a good half for me.

Surely we've got to be better pushing Chaplin up front with JCH? I'd assumed that was what we'd signed him to do.

Not making excuses. We are more than in this and I reckon oxford will be more disappointed in that half than us
