I was tempted to go wind them up but then you are at risk of falling down a Procdoc type rabbit hole (see also multiple posters on the Sunderland forum.) But again, how stupid to you have to be to type this? How can capacity be restricting them if they fill about 90% of it? Make it make sense.
Anyway, if anyone from that forum is snooping, could you please tell this bloke he's thick as fuck.
I do actually find dick waving about club size a bit cringey, a lot of The Championship is much of a muchness and Bournemouth are a fucking Sunday league club but its not holding them back. But come on though, Oxford? Pipe down lads.

They were talking about how many casual fans will stick around for next season… I for one won’t be sticking around unless I need to buy in the home end next season, again.

Frankly, this is just anecdotal of course, their ‘90%’ fill rate will be boosted a little bit by away team supporters buying home tickets.

1.5k full allocation is small in the Championship and there’s about 6-8 teams that would comfortably sell that allocation out twice over if capacity was there.

Respect the optimism of most of them, predicting they'll win vs. a team in our form when they've not won in six! Are we normally that optimistic?

If we were in their run of form the predictions would consist of a 4-0 drubbing, Lampard for the chop and mass 'bring back Robins' protests to break out, and King to pull out leaving us in huge financial trouble.
So yeh, fair play for their optimism i guess.

It’s probably copium more than anything. Our away form over the whole season is better than their home form.

Our away form under Lampard has been much improved, even with the 3 losses.

Interestingly it seems they are only 1 point worse off on home form than we are over the season. Shows what a huge job we had our on hands to recover this position.

My worry too.

Think we are going to have to play very well in order to win.

You can also never equate for dodgy penalties and unfortunate own goals, sending offs etc.

We play anywhere near our ability and we win, we have a better team than them.

Our home was really that bad because Lampard’s only loss at home was v Leeds.

Technically, based on the last 8 home games, our hardest away game is actually Oxford, believe it or not. Overall Sheff U’s home form is better but their home form specifically has dropped off a bit.

Oxford are strong at home but it is worth noting their relatively good home run has been against a lot of teams around them. A good win v Blackburn and a good draw against Bristol (who are poor away). Sheffield Wednesday did a job on them before the new year.

We have every right to be confident going into the game.

Just looking at Oxford’s recent home form and in their last 8 games it is not bad (11th in the form table) but they’ve had the easiest home 8 games of anyone in the league (on a home/away PPG basis).

We could rally do with 3 points from Oxford, Stoke and derby as the next three games are going to be tough against three teams above us. Get max points from the first three gives us a bit of breathing space against the three above us

Hopefully we get more than 3 points from Oxford, Stoke & Derby

A procdoc rabbit hole sounds rather unsanitary.

The Catherine Wheel OX4 4YP - an easy 15-20 walk to the stadium. Very easy drive away too - also a good pint at The Catherine Wheel

Had a quick read. They weren't so confident when they saw how dangerous we are with high balls in the area. Seems to be a weakness of theirs

I know we've lost a lot of the games we would expect to win over the years. But if we're going to have a chance of winning the playoffs we need to put games like this to bed. Other than for 7 games when their manager took over they haven't been very good. 2 shots on target in their last 4 games and 1 goal in their last 6 games.

Sooner or later we are going to give a team a real battering taking all our chances and I think this might be it given their lack of quality

They're saying how poor they are with high balls in their area. We love playing high balls into the area. Leave Simms up for them

Would still be nice to get an early goal though.

Never understand why fans get into 'my club's bigger than your club' dick-waving anyway.

Neither Coventry nor Oxford fans follow their team because of glory, and if you're bothered about supporting a big club, piss off and support Real Madrid, then.

"They haven't been very good. 2 shots on target in their last 4 games and 1 goal in their last 6 games."

You watch a 40 yard screamer go in now.

Followed by a very dodgy penalty and a most unfortunate own goal.

"Doesn't matter we had only scored once in 6 games, what with us getting 6 in this one."

It was certainly against the odds that we beat them that day!
We were that shite at the time I remember a few people saying they'd be happy just to see us score and get to celebrate a goal at Wembley!

Football is the one sport that is loved all around the world and by all types and classes. It pulls in all kinds of people.

I remember the days of Division 1 where we lost frequently. But whenever we managed a victory against a top side it was treated like glory. It was like winning the cup

No one would be happy, of course. Oxford are a small team and don’t really fill out their ground. Whereas we’ll begin to regularly get close to full capacity for home games for the rest of the season if we’re in the playoffs.

I agree that people wouldn't be happy. I think it's fair to assume it would be the same with Oxford fans. Whether they fill their ground or not, segregation is in place for a reason. That alone is enough to excuse tickets being canceled I think.

I was at Wembley for the FA cup semi final last year. There was a group of loud United fans Infront of where I was sitting. Add to that their need to do a line every five mins.

Sadly there are a minority which mean we can't just use the available seats in a groud

Are we thinking we'll stay unchanged on Sat?

Having this as a possible bench is a bit good:

Collins
Latibeaudiere
Binks
Dasilva
Torp
Sheaf
Wright
Paterson
Bassette

Who'd you swap for Allen? Hear you about Bassette, but I'd much rather he gets mins that Assante. Feel like Bassette offers more of an impact off the bench.

I’m genuinely not sure who you’d leave out, I’d have Asante over Bassette though currently

think Allen is just a good pro to bring on if we’re under the Pump a bit
