Having a strong bench means you can make changes if things aren’t going well that can strengthen us, rather than weaken us. Also if winning comfortably you can bring on good players knowing it won’t negatively effect the performanceI don't get the obsession with the bench. They rarely take part until 70 th minute and then only because we are losing. They are a guide to the overall strength of the squad but not much else.
It's all about whether we have the best eleven actually on the pitch. The rest is not incidental, but not much more than that.
