i'll keep my eye out for an away ticket but for now got a ticket in the home end £30 inc booking fee- an oxford member let me use their membership details as they are away. loads of seats avaliable.... for such a small ground and 1st season back in the champ that surprised me, but then again lots of the oxford i speak to are upset with performances this season. it's their first season in the championship so i think just staying up should be massive for them. maybe they started too well and it set some unrealistic expectations? i think when we went up we beat QPR early on but then had to wait two months for the next win!

anyway i'll happily take an empty seat off them.... i made sure it has a good view of the SBA.

do do doooo football in a car park

Speaking as someone who had an away season ticket from 1999 until 2013 when we moved to Northampton (I couldn't have the away ST as I didn't buy a home ST), my circumstances changed, and this season has been my first ST since before covid - I think it's absolutely fair that the supporters who go to the most away games get first dibs on tickets.

If there are away allocations like Oxford where we could sell way more tickets, them that's just bad luck for those who don't have enough points, there have been several away games this season where tickets have still been available on general sale.

As the away ST doesn't exist any more, the points system is the best approach, even if it means people get frustrated at the lack of opportunity to attend when they want.

The away ST was a great idea when we basically never sold out our allocations and now it’s the case where’s there’s too much demand for supply that’s available.

The points system only an inconvenience when there’s a small allocation and everyone is competing for tickets.

Being sold out before 1500 or 1600+ is ridiculously quick!

Yeah the away ST was great for us at the time, we don't live in Coventry, and it was before the days of buying tickets online, so to just be sent all the tickets through the post and never having to drive over to queue up was a godsend.

I think the numbers never got above about 300, so we were guaranteed our ticket no matter how small the allocation.

Lots of games haven't sold out this season, you just don't want to put the effort in and do the hard yards!

I was fishing and caught a few whoppers including yourself.
I've been doing the "hard yards" for over 50 years.
Also the fact I got a ticket should give you a idea where my points are.

Glad there's someone like me. Been to 9 and missed 8 of the away games this season. My record for those gone to:

P9 W0 D4 L5 GF5 GA 14

My record for those I missed.
P8 W5 D1 L2 GF13 GA 8

Bad news for everyone, I am on for Oxford (sorry).

Only did it once but in style. Sat in the Villa stand when we beat them 4-1 in 1995. enjoyed the result but not being able to celebrate really does put a dampener on it

I’ve done it a few times (Sheff Wed/ Watford/ Crystal Palace), but the one that sticks out the most was Villa in the FA Cup in 1998. In the Holte End.

Sat on my hands when Moldovan scored and then, to let out pent-up emotion, started berating the Villa players with my fellow Holte-enders:

“Fuck off Collymore, you’re shit!”

Backwards Brummie next to me:

“Yeah, yow right mate!” (barely decipherable)

After the final whistle, I proceeded to wander down to the front row and waited for the crowd to disappear - the let out a clenched fist and a massive “Yes!”. Then noticed a big skinhead coming towards me. Started to shit myself. Wait…is that big smile on his face?

“It’s alright mate, I’m from Eastern Green!”

That’s true to an extent, however there’s supporters in these top points brackets that are purchasing away tickets to sell them on, in order to get their points. Hence why there’s a big WhatsApp group that are doing exactly this.

That's a very fair point and something the club should crack down on, agreed.

And if he put in the hard yards over the years previously?

Then thanks for your service, but the club have clearly set out what's required, and given a decent enough period of time to amass the points. Going to 33 games in the 1924/25 season is great but largely irrelevant.

The fact that you didn't get your tickets until 12:53 suggest you might not have done the "hard yards" you think you have.

2 of my mates are thinking about it but I just got msgd by another friend if I wanted a ticket (got one already) who has just bought 3 tickets in the last hour. I'd say they'll probably be at least 30 of us scattered all around the ground.
Quite a trek from the City Centre....any recommendations on pubs close to the ground?

There's a bowling alley opposite that we went into last time I went. Plenty of space in there for a drink and it's next door.
Looking at the map, The Blackbird seems the closest actual boozer.

We went Oxford in league one and they battered us. Before half-time they had scored 3 and the bars were closed so we decided to leave and go get pissed. We were meant to be meeting a mate's uncle who was an Oxford fan after the match so we ended up going a TGIs sorta place opposite the ground and waiting there, got far too pissed and were kicked out of there for singing eventually.

Anyway met him after the game and walked to the Blackbird through a little wood and an estate, he was properly nervous and kept telling us how rough it is in there and for us to not act up (no chance of that in our state). As we got in my mate rugby tackled a Christmas tree through the door and spent the next hour or so dancing with it with the owner telling him off every now and again. We were just as loud and visible in there and were absolutely fine and having a laugh with most of the people. It was mainly full of normal footy fans and kids.

I think if you have been to just a handful of pubs in Cov you'll be fine in here. We weren't in colours and Oxford won so maybe that helped but it's like anywhere if you're not a prick (which some would deem us as being) you'll be fine.

Not many tickets left for anyone still wanting to go in the home end. See lots of Cov on X that have purchased in the home end.
