Well done for making it past half time.

Many didn't.

I'll never forget planning my holiday so I would get back for the first game of the season around 2008/2009 at a guess, maybe a year either way give or take.

Took a late morning flight back from Mallorca on Monarch and was a bit delayed, meaning it was a mad rush to the stadium from BHX.

Arrived a few minutes late and ran into the concourse and up the first flight of stairs I could see in order to get a view of the game. Some massive woman (steward) on a power trip stopped me and refused to let me go any further as my ticket was in the next block. Didn't bother to argue as I was wasting my own time, so just made some snarky comment about how I had just flown back from Spain purposely to see the game, and tried to get round to the next one over. As I ran down there was a massive cheer and we had scored. Missed the goal by a matter of seconds.

I'll never forget that day or that fucking twat of a steward.

If we’re discussing the start of games we arrived late for a home game V. Leicester. As we scrambled up behind the old crow’s nest at the kop we heard the start whistle and then a big cheer. I was first to the top and when my mate got there he asked what happened. I told him “Leicester scored” It was still 1-0 at half time when he realized that we were actually winning

I agree with the standing bloke behind me must be in his late 80s, he cant stand if people in front of me stand up I feel guilty standing, I will shout them down until they sit down have had a few close calls the last 2 seasons since moving to down a few rows.

Its why I want safe standing, I’d probably never use it but at least then the club can make it clear where people who want to stand can go.

Knowing the arena staff they’ll probably make the front 5 rows standing only

Only left early once, home v Swindon in October 1968. Heading for a 1-2 defeat when Tony Hateley scored a late equaliser. Vowed never to leave until the final whistle ever again.

I really don’t get this “I never leave early” nonsense. Why? I don’t think I’ve ever left if it’s a close game or we’re winning, but you expect me to stay until the final whistle and applaud a shite performance after a 3-0 or 4-0 loss?

I’ve left early plenty of times. That Bristol Rovers away game someone mentioned on here is a notable example - it was Boxing Day I believe. A group of 8 of us left in the 1st half. Valuable drinking time.

Boxing Day Bristol Rovers away I left on about 60mins. Cambridge away in the cup in the same season, left at HT. That was an awful season.

And Reading away last season - not through choice!

I was at that too. Didn’t we score with a stead own goal, and it just didn’t get better than that

I missed the goal, I was desperate for the toilet, on my way to the disabled section to watch the last couple of minutes when it hit the back of the net.

I was also at the Bristol Rovers game, was it that clown Slade's first game in charge?

Left early only when we've got hammered, Oxford and Rotherham away for example.

Stood on the old Spion Kop as a youth - having arrived less than 5 minutes late , and didn't realise until about 15 minutes in; that we were winning 1-0 (Kevin Gallagher) Was a weird feeling.

Correct. That was the game that basically made relegation a certainty

I remember years ago watching a game vs Man Utd up at HR. It was a 2-2 draw.
The bloke behind us arrived late with his 2 kids so missed the first goal. He then went early, and arrived back at his seat really late at half-time, so missed the 2nd and 3rd goals. He then left before the end so missed the 4th.
What a great day out.

Left this one when their third went in. Their away stand then was still the open air temporary bleachers so not only were we dreadful and a man down, it's the coldest I remember feeling at a game. Fuck that

I used to leave early all the time to get back to the pub, but that's when we used to lose what felt like all the time.
Never leave early now*. Although I've got no issue with people who do.

*sometimes I leave early if we are shit

Look at us adults justifying leaving early because someone got their knickers in a twist over it.

While we’re on other fan behaviour than annoys us:

People who don’t go out the shortest way from their row. Had a group last match sat three seats from the other end, walked all down the row moving everyone and back the same way.

Props to those that do the maths and disturb the least amount of people. Double props to those legends that plot a course involving stepping over seats to free rows to completely minimise disruption. The real MVPs.

I swear when people are lost and stewards are having a break from checking tickets, they choose my row to start walking down and stop still looking around with a lost look on their face. Then they come back out of the row, a steward finally collars them and their ticket is for 2 or 3 blocks away. Where is your carer?!

How many daytrippers will be sitting in the wrong seat tomoz?? A couple of times this season,we've had to ask part-timers to move ( very politely)

Don’t know mate. Haven’t really seen anything to suggest there’ll be a bumper home crowd, just people’s thoughts and predictions. Surprisingly though, that hasn’t happened to us this season.

2 people leave every match a few rows in front of us at about 87 despite the score - no idea why !
