Clive Platt is going to gain cult hero status and save us from relegation this year.

As much as we joke, I actually think he will help Juke when he returns. This could actually turn out to be good news. ROD has done ok, but he is too similar is play to Juke, Platt offers something different.

The thing is I have noticed that we don't have a player that wins every cross or corner, platt could be that guy that can do that.
But for any other purpose he's pretty poor...

I agree, it certainley gives us a different option and god knows Eastwood has had chance after chance after chance for the last 3 years but prefers his 5 yard radius, hands on hips whilst chewing what must be a delicious bit of chewing gum.

Saying that Eastwood did enough on Saturday to warrant a starting place ahead of ROD.

Mmmm.. reading the article is itemises the conveyer belt of injury victims returning to fitness...

Deegan OUT long time yet
McSheff OUT 3 weeks
Wood OUT 4 weeks
Platt training (not OK, just running)
Turner playing friendlies in a week
Eastwood playing friendlies this week

Bell as we know isn't really 100% either.

we're really clutching at straws if people genuinly think Platt will be a good option. The guy is a a carthorse and not a very good one!

OK lets not be too harsh on Platt. He really isn't gonna set the Championship alight but he was brought in to be a strong hold-up and play off guy which a fast striker could play off. He does this job well but the problem is I see Jukebox playing a similar role. We need somebody to run off Juke with lots of speed to open up the final 3rd.

Signing Adam Le Fondre would be a great boost for morale within the camp and would be the ideal choice for this role but is this really going to happen?

Platt is a usful option to have, no more.

Pecking order surely must be Juke, Freddy, R'OD/Platt

Don't disparage the lad, he has limitations, but he is another and different option & better than having a bench full of 17 year olds.

Times really are hard aren't they

I kind of know what you mean and the decision to sell and not replace that season was a bad one that nearly cost us, but please we must look for better than this as he was utterly hopeless.

Adebola was quite decent, not a prolific goalscorer but I'd take him over Clive Plattini (!) anyday. He's nicknamed the tree for fucks sake, that says it all

Adebola was a big loss and I rated him as a decent player for us. Mifsud certainly lost his rltouch after he left!

Id certainly have him back now!

He wasnt prolific, but he brought others into the game. OK he was sometimes clumsy (mainly when ue tried to run) but for a big guy, he werent bad with the ball at his feet.

Those Blackburn defenders didn't think he was clumsy, tee hee..one of the greatest City goals since relegation for me, and the fact that big Dele did it made it even better. Someone must have really wound him up before that game, he was an absolute beast. Unplayable. He'd be our best striker now by a country mile.

Thats true. I recall him scoring a similar one, against Forest I think it was, where it was just impossible to stop him!

And yes, he would be our best striker if we still had him. Even at.....33 (I think he is??).

Hull obviously seen something about him (not like they're just signing anyone!)

Funnily enough when we hit 4th last season, Marlon hadn't yet signed and our front two were Juke/Platt. They held up play well and midfielders were scoring goals. King arrived and basically took on the goalscoring alone but results nosedived.

Sometimes the balance of the side far outweighs the individuals talent. For every Bobby Moore there's a Nobby Styles. I think Platt played a good role on the field and a lot of his work goes unnoticed.
