Wide players have been arriving at the far post and providing more of a threat. Marginally better at getting the likes of Rudoni in the box also n

In the last few weeks EMC has flourished from being a nervous mess to a far more confident dangerous player. Youre not denying that are you?

If I was a player, I might be underperforming too:

- Long-term trusted ear, motivator, and strategic / tactical lead to the players is booted out
- Multiple new coaches arrive with no clear hierachy or, seemingly, clear direction
- Manager dealing with personal issues which leads to less presence (either physical or metaphorical)
- That manager then sacked, creating further instability
- New manager comes in, with new ideas
- New coaches come in, with new direction
- New expectations, new training techniques etc.
- A fully supportive fansbase have now become slightly unsettled, so the environment changes

All within the space of 4 or 5 months.

It's a huge cultural shift for the club, and a number of players are currently struggling to adapt, likely due to at least one of these changes. As soon as some stability comes back, we'll hopefully start to pick up again.

We've literally had 1 purple patch of 4.5 months (mid Nov 2023 to March 2024) since last september and that coincided with O'Hares return. We've been poor either side of it. Sometimes a cup run boosts a team to play above their level, which transposes into their league form. it happens all the time. And people underestimate the impact O'Hare had on the way we play, especially in the final third that goes beyond goals and assists. This is not a top 6 deck, it's totally imbalanced with players bought in for one way of playing being asked to things outside their limitations.

Long story short , the players are letting the club down rather than lacking ability ..

The team is just underperforming, it’s not a bad team. It should competing for the playoffs, there is a need to freshen things up in defence and midfield and we should be good to go.

Would pull you back to the later bit on your post for that though.

He’s got barely any time on the ground with the lads, first person he’ll rely on is the Caretaker coach. Rightly or wrongly, you’d go his his input. Now he’s had more times he’s taken them both out and not swapped it back.

Whether or not they just chat shit in interviews but Lampard was saying about Ephron ‘I was aware of his talents before joining’ etc.

If you were about to take over a club and he’s going to be under scrutiny like he is because of a jaded past in management… I’d be watching their last 10 games at home.

You could easily watch 4 games in a day and catch up on them as a club.

Surely through the interviews you’d want to have seemed like you have done your research on them and that would be by watching games etc.

For Lampard it’s a bit like Rooney, it’s his last crack at management, all pundits have said that too.

pretty much spot on, that cup run had the opposite effect for us just don’t get it, same squad only missing o hare but surely that can’t be the only reason for how bad we’ve become ? think even if o hare came back in we’d still struggle, cant believe the drop off

So what we are saying is the only reason we won games was because of O hare ?

So cal held the entire team together ?

Honestly that's a ridiculous suggestion and I like him

Said before I think this squads natural position is 8-14 depending on the manager. We’re a couple short of a play off push.

Makes not paying him £25k/wk even more of a mental decision tbh. To be clear I don’t think he’s the difference.

Yeah I don’t doubt he watched the games and got an idea but that’s very different from watching them train everyday and seeing interactions throughout the squad.

Thing is we watch football every week and I have ideas on what I would play every week but if you dropped me at the training ground on Friday and went go, of course I would need to talk to people at the club to get a basis.

I mean let’s be honest pre season is normally when managers set up tactical ideas, how many full weeks have he had to train the lads.

Benefit of the doubt for Collins as I’d put more blame on Carr

The team you posted above wasn’t capable of putting together consistent form for more than those three months around Christmas. And today’s squad and starting XI is weaker. The predictions for success this season were all based on the idea that all the good performances last year counted for something and all the bad ones didn’t.

Robins’ brief last season was to compete for the playoffs, not to outperform Chris Coleman.

And he got closer than any manager bar Mickey Adams (and let’s be honest we were closer last season than that season under Adams).

doesn’t make it acceptable though does it, drop off after the wolves game was massive and it’s cost us last season and this season,

I think it is difficult to judge Lampard, either way, so soon. He will have had little time on the training pitch to make any significant improvements with the players.
I wouldn't be surprised if there will be further coaching changes before the start of next season, along with two transfer windows. I will be judging him more so after 10 games into next season.
That being said, I was surprised he didn't fresh things up given the Christmas schedule and lethargic performances. Options may not be strong a but to make only one change to starting line up v Cardiff, and delay in making subs, was odd.

Who cares what Micky Adams did? It was almost 20 years ago.

Robins had a brief, he was given funds to achieve it, and he underperformed.

I dunno man. I think doing better than anyone previously is acceptable. Maybe the expectations were reasonable.

I was as emotional as anyone about last year, but in the cold light of day it was a very good season.

Maybe the brief wasn’t reasonable. And technically the brief was to challenge 3/5 years and he did that.

Very few teams in this division are going to be handed the kinds of transfer money made available to Robins without challenging for the playoffs being a reasonable expectation.

Last season a crap start blew a hole in our playoff aspirations and this year it was the same. Sacking the manager was a tough but justifiable outcome.

, we had a chance of another crack at the the play offs but for some reason a cup run took priority. Your right semi final was brilliant but look at what it’s done to us, I’d of Gladly given up the semi final for a play off spot,

But apparently the squad is bottom six and no manager could be expected to get more out of them without replacing them.

Crap starts don’t stop PO aspirations. We had one the year we got to the final.
