The Sky Blues boss wants to see his side grow into men as City look to continue an impressive start to the season...
Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray wants his Sky Blues squad 'stand up and be counted' in Millwall's intimidating atmosphere.

The Sky Blues travel to the New Den tomorrow as City look to continue a positive start to the League One campaign, as City recorded a 2-0 victory over Millwall.

Adam Armstrong should return for the game against the Lions after being ineligible for the Rochdale cup clash in midweek, which could also see Reda Johnson and Lee Burge return.

Millwall also started the 2015/16 season with a win at Shrewsbury Town and Mowbray hopes his side will be able to stand up to the challenge.

Mowbray said: "They beat Shrewsbury away from home which a huge result for them as it's tough to get any win in this division.

"They'll be looking to cement that three points with another win and they'll be thinking like we're thinking, if we get a win, we could top of the league which is always nice.

"We know it's going to be tough, it's always tough when you go to the New Den as the fans there create an intimidating atmosphere and our players have to be men, and rise to the occasion.

"You've seen how we're trying to play but the bottom line is that we're going to have to stand up and be counted on the day."

The games are coming thick and fast for the Sky Blues with Crewe Alexandra visiting the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday, August 18th with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Mowbray believes the Millwall challenge presents a different type of game for City and hopes to keep the momentum going.

He added: "They've obviously just came down from the Championship as well so they've got some really good players and some players who are experienced at this level.

"They'll have been disappointed to lose in midweek against Barnet but that first home league game will bring a different atmosphere which you'll have to respond to.

"We've shown already this season that we can take on the promotion favourites but it is a completely different type of game and we expect them to be slightly more direct than Wigan.

"It'll be nice to keep the results coming in of course as we've got another game on Tuesday and it's all about consistency and confidence."

It will only be intimidating if they let it be. Everything changed with the introduction of CCTV.

Intimidating ffs. What crowds do they get, 8-9K? I think the players will cope.

Psychology innit. Say it's an intimidaing atmosphere, then the players get out there and realise it isn't that bad, then they think that they feel like that because of their mental strength, then they grow in confidence because of that and play better. It's quality man-management imho.

The only bit intimidating about the New Den is the walk from the local station.
last time I went I got ambushed when on my own by 350 local yobs and I singlehandidly put 300 ,(200 in a coma) of them in hospital .
if they see me coming they won't come anywhere near the skyblue army.
