Thought the Ricoh pitch was so poor because of the weather but looking at the goal highlights around the country, there are some smashing looking pitches even at this time of year and other teams fourms that we have played have also commented
Ours must be one of the worst pitches in the league and does not bode well for what Pressley was saying yesterday about passing and neat football.
Our head groundsman the same one that was praised in many quarters not so long ago suddenly cannot have lost his knack
I was told yesterday that the head groundmans requests these days for basic pitch materials even seed are refused and everything is done on a shoe string? How true this is would be anyone guess and who actually pays him i am also unsure but the facts do speak for themselves. What was a fantastic looking quality pitch probably the best in the Championship now one of the worst in the league one

We used to have a good pitch all season before this season has gone downhill

Get springstein to sprinkle some down when they have finished on there in the summer.

I agree however, Unlike most of our peers we didnt have a home game called off, whilst they postponed theirs.

We also had the Olympics playing on it for 3-4 weeks before the season even started.

17 Olympic matches including pre qualifying
23 league games
4 JPT ties
2 FA cup games
1 league cup game
= 47 matches

Didn't we cheap out on the upkeep of the pitch? Or was that just something made up about SISU?

As far as I'm aware due to the olympics we were unable to reseed it last summer.

We couldn't relay it due to olympics

Did you see it's condition during the games, wouldn't be out of place in the premier league

We couldn't reseed it over the summer like everyone else that's why it's so bad.

Prize for worst pitch condition has to go to Walsall, that was shocking. Prize for best must go to Crawley.

They have had a major budget cut in the department reduced by a large sum!

Not sure on how close to the truth it is but I was told by someone at the club that the groundsman's budget was cut by around 80% for this season, so not suprising the pitch wasn't as good as previous seasons especially with the long cold spells.

Theres the answer an 80% cut, wonder if any one informed Pressley before he took the job as on saturday evening he particulary spoke about short passing game and neat and attractive football that will prove hard on a pitch that is an accident waiting to happen and will cause major injury to someone with its uneven bounce etc which again was mentioned on the opposing teams fourm as it has been several times this season

John Ledwidge has even tweeted pictures of the pitch this time last year and the pitch this year, with something along the lines "budget cut, poor pitch"

Do ACL contribute to the upkeep of the pitch or do they have their own staff?

Upkeep of the pitch is entirely down to the club I think.

Is that fair? We have to repair the pitch after concerts, etc in the summer, or the Heineken cup, Olympic football, etc. do we get paid any compensation for this?

Yes. ACL pay for the protection of the pitch during a concert and for all works needed to return the pitch to the condition it was in before a concert. The same goes for Heineken Cup etc.

Thanks for clearing that up, I thought there must be some sort of contribution.

I'm not too sure on the exact percentage but you can't be far off, I heard about the cuts from the man himself!

Sorry if this has been said but I was told a few months back that the ground staff were not allowed to work on the pitch at all on only match days?
