Too often on here the same posters slag off our own fans for what ever reason then make out they are the super fans of CCFC.
I like the 99% of other Football fans am happy to a normal, moan when we play shit shout with pleasure when we play well.
Just listen to talk sport or five live and you will see it is normal for whatever team you support to moan or Purr.

Never once claimed to be a super fan. Far from it compared to others in my opinion, it was dongo claiming about people hating the club. Strange as all he does is try to find negatives about the club..

Not true. Go and look at the statistics. Last 4 games at Highfield Road before the cup final were sell outs. Attendances also gradually rose as people could sense something special was about to happen. There were several sell outs in the season after the cup final too. This was at a time when football had a poor reputation and attendances were poor across the board. In terms of win ratios over the past 45 years we are probably the least successful team in the league. Teams who haven't had our success in terms of retaining top flight status for so long have still been able to win more games and to have the occasional promotion, top 6 finish. I would guess that it is much more fun following a team who are running away with League 1 than a team losing games and struggling year after year at the wrong end of the top flight. I think a little bit of sustained success, a season challenging at the top of the league would see our attendances rise considerably. Too easy to slag of our fans.(I go home and away but I understand those who don't).

Another indication of our potential is the fact that we hold the record away attendance in this country (at least we did a Blues fan I work with claims it is them for one of their Leyland Daf finals) this was for the fifty odd thousand who attended the Charity Shield match against Everton. (A "big" club like they are only brought 38 thousand to the same game. Yes I know it was a novelty for us. Still shows the potential)

Strange comment to make whilst I am currently facing criticism for saying it is a great club with great fans.

Only if it was a play off semi final or a promotion/title clincher. For a standard match, you're dreaming.

Doesn't read like that, reads like you're saying we have great fans and the reason our attendances are low is because we have a shit club.

You're going to take a little bit of stick for being over optimistic here but for those who say this is wide of the mark it would be completely uncharted territory to be flirting with the play offs, would it not ?
I don't think 20,000 would be unreasonably, given the success starvation period we have undergone (28 years isn't it ?)

You said great city with great fans, which I still find baffling that you can call our fans great. All your posts and comments with regards to the actual club are negative 99% of the time and trying to encourage people to not attend.

When we were pushing for the top in the championship I believe we played Sheffield United in midweek either before or after the Chelsea game and we had around 15,000 there.

When Boothroyd had us in the play offs the attendances were nothing special either, around 14-16k other than when Leeds brought about 8k

We were 9th after seven games and beating Shef Utd was our first win in five games. That isn't really challenging at the top end is it...

We were in the play offs for one game (Leeds game) and in true CCFC style we lost about 5 games on the bounce after that

Go for it then. Leeds game is the only game I can remember when we were in thd top 6 because if we would have won we could have got into the top 2

The Ricoh attendance figures only tell half the story. The best gates in league games always include a 5-6k away support. The actual best home gates are therefore cup games: Crewe, Chelsea, Middlesbrough. Cov fans aren't fair-weather and are just waiting until the day we.....

Here you go

So from the first 23 matches we were in the top 6 for 12 of them, and spent most of the rest in the top 10. We challenged for half a season and still had poor crowds with only 15k turning up for the Middlesbrough, Barnsley and Norwich matches in this time (haven't checked all the fixtures but just picked these 3 out.

I would say 15-16k this season if it's a successful one.

If somehow a promotion was achieved and there was investment in the team them 20k plus in the championship.

Our average for the season was over 16k and we finished 18th in the league.
As I say we have a decent fan base

I thought we got 28k at some point during xmas? did they really not rise at all during that period of relative success before tumbling down with our rapid decent diwn the table?

Leeds attendance was 28k when Leeds brought about 8k which hyped the fixture up. Other than Leicester none of the other fixture broke 16k as far as I can see.

Norwich, Preston and Middlesbrough matches were 15k. Barnsley, Burnley and Cardiff matches were 14.5k. Doncaster match was 12k
