With the news this week that 6 youngsters have been given professional contracts with the Sky Blues, it got me thinking. So for this weeks Cooks Question, i want your opinion on our youth academy. Who is the best player our academy has produced and why? From my time as a CCFC supporter, it would have to be Callum Wilson, but im sure theres others out there who have done well. Let me know your answers before 11.45AM Thursday if you want them read out on the show. Also, we have a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT on a blockbuster interview coming up in the next few weeks and details on a future competition. Its gonna be a big show so dont miss it! Sports Lounge kicks off at 10am on 98.6 Hillz FM. If you miss the LIVE show, you can catch up on Youtube, just type in Sports Lounge Hillz FM into the youtube search bar. Thanks again for your brilliant support

There's a few for us older types - Jeff Blockley (went on to play for England - albeit only once), Dennis Mortimer (captained a European Cup winning team), Willie Carr, Danny Thomas (also played for England), Mark Hateley (another also played for England - scored away to Brasil!).

Graham Oakey and Chris Kirkland might have been right at the top of the list, if not for injuries.

Thomas, a bit like Mortimer and possibly Wilson in the future, are the few exceptions who go onto other clubs and have a good career. Thomas was great for Tottenham.

Others such as Bigi leave much too soon and their careers stagnate.

Garry Thompson was a great player for us when I was a nipper.....he went on to play for other "bigger" sides like Wednesday & Villa......he should've played for England too....probably would have but for Trevor Francis & his price tag....

....I always seem to remember him playing covered in strapping & bandages......

Developed some good goalkeepers too, I know City fans hated him for different reasons but Les Sealey was a top goalie and then there's Chris Kirkland who but for injuries could have been an England regular. Also Dean Kiley, got sold to York City but turned out to be a top keeper.

I know he never signed for us professionally and I'm not too sure what age he got poached from us but Daniel Sturridge has got to be one of the best, surely?

Not heard that one. Heard we turned down Ryan Giggs and all sorts of other silly rumours though.

Im pretty sure i seen a photo of a young Michael Carrick at Ryton in a CCFC training kit. I know we went through the West Ham academy but is it possible what happened with Sturridge happened with Carrick too? Might have just been a loan deal

It was when he was 16, SISU wouldn't pay his coach fare.

Yeah he was a decent little player (literally), I also though barry Quinn was useful when he first came through.

Tbh, any player that comes through and manages to have a decent career in the football league has done exceptionally, most academy players filter down and play non league.

Just googled Liam Davis, hadn't realised he was at yeovil.

I always liked Davis. Thought we let him go too early.
