Haven't seen anyone mention Nigel Worthington, might be a good shout. While we're on the subject of NI, Jim Magilton might also do a good job for us. Also, I knwo Russell Slade has left Cardiff but he is proven at this level and I think he could do a good job. Billy Davies also.

Did I miss it, or am I correct in thinking the club haven't led us to believe there is a timeframe for the new appointment to be made e.g. before the Charlton game??

p.s. I do think it'll be Venus, possibly on an initial deal up to May, but interested in other people's views on this.

Russell Slade would be excellent but is manager of Charlton who we are playing on Saturday.

Magilton has no record to speak of and lost his last club job after he head butted a player in the changing rooms. Worthington was a disaster at York and claimed to have turned us down while manager there.

Billy Davies won't go anywhere without being given loads of cash to splash and complete control of managerial matters. Neither are an option for us.

Apart from that... Good suggestions

The best available candidate by a mile is Kenny Jackett having had success at everyone of the clubs he managed, Watford (record unbeaten run to stave off relegation) Swansea promotion, FL trophy and took them to top of next division, Millwall promotion, cup final and top 10 in championship and wolves promotion.

Naturally he doesn't seem to be considered as an option for us.

Jackett is the best available sadly we're not such a good match for him.

Having worked at Leyton Orient, Cardiff and now Charlton he seems to be on a mission to show that he can work with owners that might give ours a run for their money.

100% agree with this and I said that in another thread. He did a good job as assistant to Holloway when QPR got out of this league a few years ago too.

You said on a previous thread that Mowbray would be gone tomorrow (whenever the thread was posted) and Evans would be announced on Monday (yesterday).

Mowbray went which wasn't exactly hard to predict but Evans didn't come in yesterday.
