Why? We were new to the league, that's what we managed to get him last term. He was learning on the job, which is why we were allowed to have him. He's now ready for a bigger challenge and a promotion chasing side if he is to progress and be useful to his parent club beyond this season. I'd be more amazed if he doesn't go on loan to another Championship team and one with aspirations of play-offs at least.

His form at the end of the season played a massive part in keeping us up. If Cranie and Rocky are lined up as replacements god help us

This kind of foaming reaction to what was a very measured opening post shows how warped people’s ideas of some players are. Ostigard is a good, promising player who finished the season strongly and would make our back line a lot better if we signed him again. But he’s not Franco fucking Baresi.

No he isn't. He is better in the air than Baresi.

I loved him and it would be great if we got him back, however if we don’t, and we get someone almost as good who can play on the left, with pace, we may find that we function better as a team.

Think ostigard has gone and further his career at premiership level and I can't blame him or any other player as it's a higher level.robins will sort a replacement out.

Hoping theres a chance this one will happen. Looks very unlikely. This one signing alone permanent or loan in addition to Cranie and Maatsen will be the boost we all need.

Someone get in Gyros ear! I just have a funny feeling this ones not dead.

I think our only chance here is if Robins has been keeping a bit of cash back and Maddison does go for £70m.

The Athletic have reported we are sending Rocky back after his trial. they also mentioned decisions on Crainie and Souare will be made this week and that we are working on 3 loans

Yeah he lost a fair few early in the season because I remember he said in his first interview “I won’t get beat in the air many times this season”, or something to that effect, and a few games in I recall thinking he must be cocky as was getting beat often.
Still, quality young player with the drive to go a long way.

I’m happy about that not saying I’m adverse to him joining but not on loan. He’s had a knee op. not fit enough according to MR doubt he would come straight into the team, I don’t like the thought of getting players fit for their parent club.

Just have this weird feeling Robins is holding out just in case Osti becomes available.

not really realistic as it would need quite a few ducks to line up buuut...

  • White moves to Arsenal for £50 m
  • Brighton spend big on a couple of replacements
  • Osti doesnt fancy a season in the resrves
  • Maddison moves to Arsenal for £70 m
  • We get around a million
  • lump it all on Osti with his 1 year remaining

yeah but I still see them using a good chunk of that 50m on transfers, if they didnt then they further their risk of slipping out of the Prem and that would be a disaster

Exactly my thoughts hes definately just waiting ....Osti is worth waiting for. But dilemma is how long do you wait. There will be a cut off in his mind.

I still think there’s a strong chance we will get Osti. If Brighton end up deciding they don’t need him this season it will be to us unless a top end championship club wants him. We’ve got a chance but if not we move on.

I assume osti is the long term target Robins means

On that basis we could have pretty much anyone as a ‘long term target’.

I think this ship has sailed now unfortunately, time to move on

Based only on a hunch because we had him last year and he obviously liked him. No other reason.

I think the next week will show Brightons intentions. If they spend the 50m on 2 CB on long term contracts then Osti needs to leave. Unlikely anyone has money to sign him at moment so loan would be only option. Many teams in Championship will be interested some with better prospects however he knows he can get in our first team and put himself in for a tidy signing on fee and wage with top end Championship clubs or possibly lower end Prem next season. Ultimately it is what he wants as a player first team football at the lower eschalons or fight for a place at the top half. Not sure what he will want.

Graeme Potter on Sky Sports saying that he's looking within the Brighton squad to replace Ben White.

Think we can rule Osti out lads

There are other options to Ostigard still think it could be as late as August 31st. though, a lot could happen by then including Brighton getting off to a poor start. They won’t be replacing Ben White with Leo.

You have no idea if they will replace him with Ostigaard or not. Given his age and attitude he is likely to get better and is probably capable of making big leaps forward quickly. My impression from the outside looking in is that he will get game time in their first team this season. If Jack Stephens could play in the PL after his loan with us in League 1, then Ostigaard can definitely do so too.

This thread is starting to resemble the Carl Baker one.
He isnt coming Im afraid or it would have happened and if he was released by Brighton there would be a lot of other clubs interested who could pay Brighton and Osti a lot more money than us.
Time to close the thread
