Free agent midfielder from Huddersfield. Apparently some reports in Huddersfield are crediting us with a link to him today. Don't know too much about him.

He isn't a free agent. Reading the Hudders forum it appears he has been offered a new one year contract on reduced terms but he isn't interested. However, he has a one year activation clause in his contract which they will most likely activate to get a fee for him if he doesn't sign the contract on the table.

Is the OP's source the CET, or is this post the source for the CET article?

Was linked with Nottingham Forest last week, City being used to get a deal moving between championship sides?

Could be. He seems Championship quality so agent might be using us as a pawn in his negotiating tacticS.

Looks like a bear breasted fight to the death between Mowbray, Smith and Davis:

Sounds promising. A left footed midfielder that is only leaving because of his present club are under financial constraints and can't offer him more money.

1, He is still wanted by the club he is with.

2, We are willing to pay more than a mid table Championship side can pay him so must have a decent pot.

judging by all of those linked so far, it certainly looks like we wont be the smallest team in the league this season

Suits me the thing is yes it may take a moment of magic from Maddison to win a 1-0 on a bog of a pitch at Oldham on a Tuesday night in the middle of November in lashing down rain but it's the 90mins of battles all over the park that we have never been competitive at the 2 years of games at the Ricoh in this league crap sides would rock up bully us off the park nick a goal, time waste, play the ref & see out games, all things we sadly lack especially playing weak officials hope we get a few 'idiots' in with this mind set to give us a battling backbone!

And this is where bringing in an experienced manager not past it will help greatly. And I am also hopeful on this player targeted because of who our manager is.

That's us buggered then, cause we can't compete with the big boys of this league.

Been saying this for ages we need a big strong and most important nasty team, softies like Barton will not get you out of this league, we need another Denis Wise type to help the ref to run the game

Aren't they the group of local businessmen trying to expose SISU's cloud of secrecy whilst simultaneously being draped in a cloud of secrecy?

I think PSB stands for Preservation Sky Blues so probably only foes to the owners.

A few months ago, you'd have found HTFC fans queueing up to drive him to Cov themselves. 4 years of mostly dross, interspersed with being injured. Then last season he went on loan to Chesterfield & was sent back early.

Then, unexpectedly forced his way back into the side & did remarkably well, to the point where opinion is fairly split as to whether people wanted him to stay or not.

On his day, a pretty good player. Good awareness & passing of the ball, plus telescopic Go-Go-Gadget legs useful for pulling a tackle out of nowhere. Can make a nuisance of himself in attacking situations too. Or, he'll amble around like a new born foal. Or, he'll be injured.

In short, good enough that he could be genuine competition for places in the Championship - if you can keep him fit & get him playing as he can, you've got a very good signing.

We've had a few of them in the past. Playing to put themselves in the shop window perhaps? Or panicking they might not get other offers due to their earlier form and suddenly think 'I might actually need this club contract, better pull my finger out'

I think you're right, although strange that he did so badly at Chesterfield on loan if that's the case. Maybe just didn't fit in, or getting sent back early from there gave him the jolt he needed? I think he can answer that one better than I can.

On balance I think it's best for both HTFC and for Oscar if he moves on. If he doesn't keep up the form of the last few months then he's taken a backward step - and even on his best form he's decent competition for a starting place, but not a shoe-in. He could be set back by staying, whereas by dropping a level he has the ability to get a good run of games and make a career for himself. 24 years old & he hasn't really done anything yet - time he kicked on now & maybe that's better for him to go to Lg1. Plus, for the club we've got a couple of very promising youngsters in his position who might find it easier to make a breakthrough without an extra man blocking that space (and based on his first 3 1/2 years at the club, the youngsters deserve it more).

Depends which Oscar Gobern you get whether he'll be a good signing for you. He could be one of your best players, or he could be utter garbage. I wouldn't be surprised by either.
