I don't know any of the players and as I doubt I'll ever get to sixfields will even know what they look like but the last couple of friendlies have been good results. Is there reason to be optimistic?

It's certainly sounding like we're starting to click, but it all means nothing until we do it in the league.

You have to admire SP'a optimism..I'm going to reserve judgement until 5 games in or when we actually have enough players in the squad to get through the season! Bit worried with only a week to go...first eleven looks half decent though!

Exactly, it is good to see that we can play some decent football and hopefully it will carry over into the league. It would be more worrying if we had played really bad every game and got hammered but there is nothing worse than winning friendlies and then getting hammered in the league.

Well they say optimism does not exist without the presence of some form of rational fear.

And that worked out well for them didn't it, they got their arse handed to them in the Championship and came straight back down.

And we didn't even offer him peanuts, we just let him walk out the door.

I doubt it is fact but any offer would have been derisory in keeping with our wage budget and ffp.

And that's the way it goes. We picked up Moussa on a free because he'd had a dodgy period. Short contract of course reflecting an element of risk. Moussa took his opportunity and tore a hole in league 1. Then of course, clubs from a higher division, with bigger budgets come looking and we can't compete. All perfectly natural and happens to many clubs all the time. So why are people so down on frees? There are good players out there looking to reignite their careers. Of course if they do well we struggle to keep them as they are on short contracts but we've lost nothing and and gained a decent player for a year.

my main worry has always been the strength in depth of the tiny squad, the injury proneness of the new recruits and the likelyhood we'll fall apart when the injuries, suspensions and winter set in. So while im slightly more optimistic than I would have been if we had lost these games (though for the most part I consider the results near irrelevent), no I'm not optimistic at all unless we can bring in a good few more players.

What about Murphy? He openly said he wanted to stay at CCFC. and he knew he would have to take a wage cut, but SISU in their infinite wisdom let him go.

You have to be optimistic as that's what being a football fan is all about. But then again mixed in with a touch of realism too. With our better players gone and replaced by gambles you have to say it's not going to be easy, but then again every season is never easy is it ? But you have to give credit to Pressley as he's always upbeat !

What's that got to do with signing players and competing in League One? Absolutely nothing that's what. You can't get a decent squad together in league one for very little. And Yeovil were sensible in the championship or do you think they should have broke the bank and took a punt on staying up, and to hell with the financial consequences?

I'm willing to bet we still have a comparatively large wage budget for this league.
