Opinions in ticket prices (1 Viewer)

I'm doing my final big project at college and it could determine whether i pass or fail this course. Im doing a Football Focus sort of show and one of my topics is ticket prices and what fans think of them. Not just here, but across the whole country. So if you could give me your opinions on ticket prices and whether you think they are pricing some fans out of the game so i can use your views in my show, i'd be ever so grateful

Liam, if you haven't already take a look at Walsall and the way they are selling tickets. Under 12's are free with a paying adult, and fans get money back on their season tickets when they go to games. Its very innovative.

It isn't a rip off when you break it down per game. Besides, how else can we raise our revenue?

I think around the £20 mark is the most I could stomach paying on any kind of regular basis. Some of the Premier League prices are beyond all reason.

Season tickets represent great value. One off games for the cup (JPT apart) and away games, are often pretty much disgusting for the level we are at.

I think about £10 is a reasonable price for 3rd Div. football,I can take my wife to the Cinema for £8.50 for both of us ,texting 2-4-1 to Orange & free parking. :thinking about:

Try looking up the Football Fans Federation's website. They have a campaign going on ticket prices, and I think they've done a survey

The season ticket pricing is excellent value. The cup games this season have also been excellent, 5 quid for JPT, a tenner at Arsenal, 20 quid (I think) at Spurs. However to have to pay 25 quid at Swindon was shocking!

I think season tickets represent excellent value overall at this club - however i also feel clubs could be much more innovative about how they make them accessible to more people. Back in the old days the terraces were where you could buy a cheap ticket - they were perfect for the local working class person. Unfortunately the loss of terraces in the British game has caused lots of issues for mondern day football, and I think the one of those problems is around make football affordable for all again.

If you look at someone like Arsenal, where ticket prices are utterly disgusting, the philosophy has changed. They don't have cheap tickets (like the old clock end) as they don't want the local lads from the Islington at the games, because all they do is buy their ticket, watch the game and go home. They want the tourist from Denmark who comes over, buys tickets for him and his mate/family, spends £100 in the club shop, buys a programme, food, drinks, etc spends £300 and goes home happy. Then next week a different tourist fan comes along and does the same.

Now i'm not saying we're like that, or that its even like that at every top flight club - But the gulf between the fans and football clubs is as big as its ever been, and that relationship has a massive influence on many things, including ticket prices.

My Season Ticket has worked out at £9 per match and my daughter is free. That is more than reasonable, I feel. For this level, it's affordable and you also get perks, such as the free scarf, 15% discount in the club shop and free membership. Football has changed so much and there's such a divide now between the Premiership and the Football League. Essentially, The Football League clubs have to be increasingly concious of creating a full matchday experience at a cost that will benefit them as well as being reasonable for families. They have to cater to a wider target audience at a much lower cost. The Premiership, on the other hand is now the priviledge of the rich. They don't need to create a match day experience because the fact it is Premier League, the tickets sell themselves. It's a different environment to the one we left all those years ago.

I think CCFCs pricing is reasonably fair. I would concur with the earlier posts that more innovation is needed though. The Walsall idea is excellent and I would be happy to pay a bit more as an adult if it meant that something like that is implemented here.

I think that we've lost a potential generation of support thanks to our own performance and the availability of PL games. I also imagine that it can be quite difficult for younger supporters to get to The Ricoh itself, although I don't use the buses on match days so I may be wrong.

I would also add that I think ticket prices should be adjusted in blocks 15 and 16. I don't sit there often, but the view isn't the best and the supporters at least try to create some noise. If we offered young adults tickets in that section at a reduced price, the atmosphere would improve in my opinion. Not everyone goes to the football just to spectate. The 'carnival' atmosphere seems to have gone and some innovation to see it return would be welcome.

You should also check out the Spirit of Shankley Group if you haven't already done so. They quite often have large banners at Liverpool games calling for fairer ticket prices, they might have some useful stuff.

Its all relative isn't it, for 3 months of the season my £15 a game ST price seemed like good value but for September and some home games of late its a bit steep. In truth following football for many is about the amassed costs of travel, parking, tickets and sustenance and the cost of bringing kids as well.

Season tickets at City have been pretty reasonable. Yes it upset some people this season when a few ££ was added to the price, but even so we were setting prices at a realistic level.

The Tuesday / Wednesday night ticket reduction is also quite good. £18 for an adult is reasonable.

If i was paying by the game, i think £18 is around what id expect to pay.

City prices are about right. I did see a comment earlier in the season, that some clubs in our league set the price quite high knowing that there are down to their hardcore + away supporters who will pay more.
When I was a younger, in the '60's I did go to other games, around the Midlands, at today's prices I suspect very few go to neutral games. Last time I went was a Hednesford vs Kidders conference game, where there was a young striker playing, who's now at the other end of his career at Port Vale.

I think uk prices should be nearer German prices. Their top teams charge far less than our prem.

In an ideal world Sky money would be channelled away from wages and reducing match day tickets. For this league 16 quid. My season ticket is about that so why charge much more if you can't afford a season ticket?

So absolutely the prices are a rip-off.

When you can watch a movie for under a tenner, totally unjustifiable £25 for a league 1 game!

Our season ticket prices represent good value for money whereas many clubs e.g. Stevenage who have far inferior facilities have the audacity to charge £25 for a match.
I believe that some match day tickets at Arsenal now exceed £100 since VAT went up to 20%. Sadly they and many other clubs are no longer interested in the traditional fan but now seem to be courting the corporate market to the detriment of the true fanbase.
I have also noticed that clubs are inconsistent in the age qualifications that they treat concessions.

Liam if you spent more time on your studies than wasting your time on football forums you might stand a better chance.

As it stands, we have the 3rd cheapest 'cheapest ST' in L1 and only 6 less than us in L2!

We've got it lucky, works out at £8 a game for me, I didn't get an early bird ST neither!

England, and the world should move to the German model, tickets out price the working man to watch the worker's game around England.

We are actually quite good though in comparison to most teams in the FL! One thing to give SISU.
