just as we stand on the precipice with just 4 matches between us and a big drop.
Will we drop or will we get away by the skin of our teeth?
WE'RE THE CHAMPIONSHIPS BIGGEST LOOSERS!!!
2004-2012 we've lost more than everybody in the Championship!

In a world where the sad fact is football is governed by MONEY, principally gate receipts paid by the fans!, WTF are SISU doing with it?!!!!

I would put money on that our average league position over the last 25 years is lower than everyone else in the football league, with the fewest top half finishes/trophies/etc to boot. I know that's deliberately picking a timeframe since '87, but that's a bloody long time without a sliver of success.

Top half finishes yes. Most teams have not won anything though.

No play-off promotion shields? Runners-up trophies? Anything which calls for an open top bus really. We must be waaaay down that league table.

We are also the team that has been in the championship the longest, hence why we have lost more than anyone else.

Would you define success as being relegated and promoted year in year out or by not being relegated at all over a long period of time.......

I'd define success as having something to cheer about. Having something to brag about. Nobody celebrates at the end of a game if we've played well and drawn 0-0. We celebrate when we score goals even if we're playing badly (see Bristol City on Monday). When was the last time we had something to celebrate? I don't want to watch stagnation. I want some excitement!

success is doing well in whichever competition you are in

since around 1972 when i started watching I would say that is

an FA cup win
2 League cup semi finals
a couple of 7th place finishes in the top flight

ie an average of 1 every 8 years, and nothing in around the last 20

Most teams would expect a bit of success every 4 or 5 years on average - (my emeasure of success above is quite loose)

so 20 years of nothing to me that makes us the most unsuccessful team in the universe

Yet again I will mention the fact that City have NEVER been in the top 6 in ANY league since 1970. Some of the DAD's on here weren't even born then!

But I still love my Sky Blues!! x x x

It strikes me that SISU have been reining in the Finances.
If we still get away with staying in the division, we will have achieved no worse than previous seasons and saved a bucketful.
Lets hope we get away with it.....
and they are in a better position to spend next year.......?

Will it then look like good management?:claping hands:

Everyone has their own idea of success. In 40 odd years we have been relegated once. How many teams can say that? I am 40 odd years old today, so have a reason to go back that far.

If I wanted a successful team I could have done the same as the majority and "support" a team where I have never been before. If you were about in 87 you would know how much sweeter it was waiting for success. Taking less than 1,000 to away games, then struggling to get tickets as the cup run went further. We are overdue our next success. Just remember you might not get a ticket for it though

You still keen on getting to a game in August? We will show the youngsters how us older ones do it Would prefer an away day but will see what we can make it to.

Well it can't be lower than those in league 1 & 2, but our average position over those 7 seasons I listed (2004-11) was 17th.
Its mediocre.... but not abysmal.
Maybe the city of Coventry, risen from the ashes, deserves more?
But whatever the stats. say I think our whole team are a credit especially "the young ones" and I don't think the likes of Sheffers and Keoh could possibly give any more.
Whatever they get when they play the next 4 games I will be 100% behind them.

We'd all like more, but our position in the attendance averages is 14th, 17th is only 3 below that. So we're punching about our weight!
Our average gate this year is 15000 Middlesbro are next above us and their average gate is 2500 higher than ours so they've got more revenue to play with. and so on...

Get real. We were in the shit from before then from trying to stay in the Prem. Before we went down there was only 3 teams that had been there longer than us. Arsenal who have been top flight for many years now, Everton, and Liverpool for a couple more seasons than us. We were in top flight football longer than any Brummie team or even Manure. Real bad record I suppose. How many fans would love just one season in the Prem? How many fans would love just one season in the Championship? Would it have been better to you if we were not in the top flight for so many years and have top 6 finishes in the past instead?

There is a good chance we will end up in Div 1 after this season "Div 3". Shocking to all us fans from the 70's and 80's, but nobody has the right to never hit the lower reaches.

Id say at least in the premiership we seen decent football and the whole day was more enjoyable at highfield road then it is now

the ricoh is not for me either which has coincided with a demise

im 33 and vaguely remember the fa cup and i in all my years have never seen anything to really get excited about

give me play off days in league 1 over bottom 8 finishes in the championship

even rochadale have enjoyed more success than us and they were nationwide known as the most unsuccessful team in english football history

Maybe we don't get out enough, - or maybe we don't get enough out!

checking more stats. Coventry is the ninth largest population centre in England!
Maybe we should be ninth in the prem....!
How do we sort that out?

Success at a lower level over being at a higher level? Four kit, let's stay in Div 4 and do the playoffs each season

I'll wait to see fixtures first Astute. Can't plan too far ahead. I have certain committments here on the island so would have to work round them.

No problem mate. Will upset the wife and let her know when I know for sure Have just upset her a couple of hours ago. She had planned a day out with me tomorrow for my birthday. Told her I would prefer to go to the football. Now going to Burnley instead

The big bonus is she isn't talking to me now
