Was aghast when I saw the headline and was thinking no, no, no! But..... It is written by Paul Whitehouse and John Sullivan's son and Whitehouse will play Granddad, which I can fully envisage and quite a few of the songs were written by Chas Hodges of Chas and Dave, so I can see how that would work too.

Still conflicted though. Proof will be in the pudding I suppose. Sounds a terrible idea, but then they have gone completely the right way about doing it.

It can't be any worse than John Sullivan's (RIP) attempts to milk the OFAH brand with most of the post 1989 episodes (particularly the dreadful 2003 Christmas special) and the other spin offs

It was so disappointing wasn't it. Should have left well alone. The final episodes were very weak.

God, no! Only Fools and Horses dragged on for way too long - and I hate musicals. Mind you, nobody is forcing me to go I suppose

Should of been left with them walking into the sunset “this time next year we’ll be billionaires “

Absolutely perfect ending

Rock and chips....
Was watchable but clearly not up to standards.

I’m a huge fan of OFAH, personally I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing this on the stage. With the people involved and the risks of damaging the legacy of OFAH I’m sure this will be done to a high standard.

Well yep, it's the one thing that has swayed me.

Chas and Dave songs - Perfect fit for the Trotters and Peckham.

Paul Whitehouse - Think he would be perfect as Granddad.

And

Whitehouse and John Sullivan's son writing the thing. Again, a perfect fit.

I was stunned at the suggestion at first, but now really think it could work.

Yes, I’d imagine he’d justify the role of grandad very well.

They have to get this right as for me the last three Xmas specials dampened the work of John Sullivan as they just didn’t feel right. The jokes didn’t feel genuine like they always did.
It should of been left with them walking away millionaires.

The Jolly Boys Outing was the last decent Christmas special. The millionaires one was a nice story but comedy wise not great.

Mother nature’s son was a great Christmas special three years later in 92.
Jolly boys outing has to be in the top 5 episodes tho, one of my favourites.
Time on our hands is in my top 5 but one of the saddest episodes too.

it'll be bloody awful. Whatever next. It's like someone trying to redo Dads Army.

That would never, ever work.

Not unless they made it into a movie of course. That would work for sure I reckon.
