What do you consider to be the one event that impacted on our season, good or bad (probably the latter) ?

I can think of a couple, but if there is one that stands out for me it is the sale of Carl Baker, made even more obvious to me when he came back with MK to play us at the Ricoh.

Johnson's red card away at Scunthorpe, Samuel's injury and Pressley remaining employed until February.

Reda's red card at scunny a few days after SP was given the long term deal. Apart from some away wins it was straight downhill from there. Think we went 7 on the bounce without a win immediately.

I can say with a great deal of certainty that if Pressley had not been sacked we would have been relegated by now.

Yep.

He should have gone then, if not even before.

The arguement that sp would or wouldnt have got us relegated will always be split. Personally the one event that fucked the season was selling wilson and losing clarke. You cant lose 30 plus goals and not replace them. All the blame is at sisu door for this debacle.

This was going to be the turning point, I thought.

I agree with all the above points but
for me Carl Baker was the biggest factor

We didn't even sell Baker though did we, I thought we had to pay him to leave. Pretty poor of the manager to not recognise the value he still had.

Reda getting sent off at Scunthorpe. It all seemed to go down hill from that point.

As people have said, the Reda sending off was the turning point. Him getting injured on more than one occasion could also be considered.

the Gillingham game ,the second half we were useless ,at one point we were clueless on the right wing in the attacking half and it was obvious we were going to struggle,. just because it was our ricoh return most seem to think it was great .I think we were lucky to win and Gillingham deserved something from the game. then letting baker go was the worst move ever at that time . an attacking team will always attract a good crowd ,but the dross we play ,well its only the love for the club that gets people threw the turnstyles

Wilson replacements - 2 loaness Nouble McQuoid, 3 permanent signings Miller Tudguy Jackson- all out of form strikers with few goals in the last few seasons

JOB rather than baker

Webster & Aaron Martin getting game time

Too many short term losnees and short term contracts making the changing rooms feel like an airport departure lounge

Poor midfield lead by Flecky no goals but can pass the ball well around in our own half

No pace

SP's negative tactics

Atmosphere at the Ricoh

WASPS getting out ground

and apart from keeping presely after tranmere thrashed us last season , giving the knob a 4 yr contract was as big as a joke as giving Obama the noblel peace prize

There are two if we go down.

The absurd decision to rely on a sub standard rookie keeper and Samuels injury.

Most of our players have played at a higher level than league one - between them over 1,300 championship and premiership games.

Burge getting sent off. A Cup Run would have been good for everyone
Samuel getting injured. The goals dried up immediately.

Tim Fishers 'This is only temporary, we're building our own stadium' comments within 3 days of us moving back to the Ricoh. Further alienated support and numbers fell by 60% in a week.

It was a ridiculous thing to say at the time. Abysmal timing at the very best.

Why - the Ricoh had already been sold as he well knew.

It was, Grendel. It was terrible timing. We had just come back, there was euphoria, good feeling, excitement. I was absolutely stunned when he came out with that. Really knocked the wind out of my sails and I know lots and lots of fans felt exactly the same.

It was just dreadful timing.
