Tomorrow the club has one of its biggest games in recent years.
Rotherham 3 points behind us with two games in hand and a superior goal difference making it realistically two points between us.

lose this and the pressure is on us to get out that relegation spot with very few games left to do it.
The teams who only a few weeks a go were sitting in our position have found a bit of form managing to pull away whilst we have slipped down the table.

I was quit confident after the Bristol game however the Bournmouth and QPR games show how vulnerable we really are given the way we leak goals so easy and cant score.
With the exception of Derby the other teams around us all seem to have been able to pull results out the bag when needed whilst our own form is on a downward spiral.

will we stay up ?
I really do think Thursday will be the decider and reminds me of the relegation fights from the 80s. The players need to show the fighting spirit of the teams in the past otherwise it will be a rebuild in league one next season which given events this season with covid, finances and the return to the Ricoh will be a massive disaster for the club and its future

And it’s our game in hand on the teams above which everyone seems to be ignoring.

And a win would mean that we had a better record than Derby, Huddersfield and Birmingham. Well, I can dream.

It's a huge game, no doubt.

But we could lose and still stay up, and we could win and still go down.

All I'm saying is people don't need to overreact either way if we lose or win. There's still lots to play for and after a nice run of fixtures which ends on Sunday Rotherham have some very tough games.

Exactly, we could lose tomorrow and then go and beat Barnsley and Stoke or draw and we would be out the relegation.
Tomorrow is huge but not the end.

People mention Huddersfield. We’ve got to get the points to catch them first, even though it’s only two. I’ve seen more this season to suggest we’ll bottle it tomorrow, I’m already sick with stress.

We need to not lose. If we can then we probably need 5 more points after that to cling on. If we can’t manage to stay up this season we are in for another long stint in league 1

I agree that a point would be a decent result, but it worries me that if MR feels the same way, then he’ll go one up top, set up defensively, which hasn’t proved to be successful. If we go two up top, we can press more effectively and stop the other team from playing. I would also go Gyokeres with Walker, as that offers more physicality, and both have shown that if they get a chance, they can take it. I don’t think this is a game for Godden, just don’t think he’s ready for this kind of battle.

I guess maybe it’s the manner of the defeat if it happens. If we narrowly lose a tightly contested game I agree. If we look clueless in attack and shaky in defence and devoid of ideas it would give me little hope for the upcoming games.

you think 48 will be enough. I’m starting to feel that it might take 2-3 more than that. I think there is a different situation this year. Some of these game where the opposition has “nothing to play for” with the addition of no fans getting on their backs could mean plenty of points up for grabs

Yeah the thing is our away form is terrible so if we lose to Huddersfield and Rotherham that’s a big leap for them.

We are really then relying on getting 7 home points from 3 and hoping it’s enough

We have been hammered the last couple of away games so a hammering again and it’s looking tough

Possibly - certainly Derby a team like us falling down have a lot of games against teams who don’t need much. In fact all are rivals play Blackburn and Derby have sheff weds at the end.

Im not sure we capable of more than a couple more wins unless we beat them tomorrow. We need to ensure we don’t lose to them and Huddersfield

No obvious reason why that should be, were we relegated. There will only be a handful of strong teams in that division next season (and we would have a revitalised Championship winner Kastaneer available all season )

Well I think we’d struggle to retain O Hare and Hamer.

Kelly and Mcfazdean are two years older and creaking. Rose and Hyam look like they are in decline, Dabo and Godden seem to be struggling to recover fitness.

we have mason, jobello , da Costa, Kastaneer and Hillsner on the books

I think we’d resign biamou as the third forward

it looks a poor squad

Agree with the first bit
Why would Kelly and Fadz age 2 years? (assume you mean since last played there - Eccles will be a cheap asset in that division.
A fit max, with Walker or Godden (assuming we lost one, would be fine in that division)
Baka would have left and we can replace with ???
I'd be surprised if we couldn't make the play offs with the remnants of the squad.
FWIW, I'd sign Will Keane (at Wigan) if we went down. Still think he could do a job as target man for us at that level.

Anyway - not yet convinced we'll go down. if I knew in advance we were going to lose at Rotherham and Huddersfield, I'd be seriously worried though. Derby will only be in trouble if they fail to get more than a point from their next 3 games - 2 away games (Blackburn, PNE) then Blues at home.

Depends who we were to sign in their place and how much we would collect for Hamer and O’Hare I suppose. Either way we’d have gifted Championship football to Rotherham on a plate

7's a realistic target, catch Barnsley on an off day could feasibly be 9

We’re a difficult proposition at the best times, but when we’ve had 7 days rest compared to our opponents 2, it really will be an uphill struggle for them, even if we have an off day, I’ll be stunned if you manage to beat us.

It would be 3 days actually, and I'd be surprised if we win too. Mind you, nobody had us down to beat Brentford yet we raised our game and they weren't at the races. It can happen is all I'm saying.

If you’re calling Thursday or Sunday a day of rest you really could be in trouble, you’ve got Friday and Saturday to recover then you’re back at it. We’ll come too soon for you in my opinion.

My being daft, sorry. Look elsewhere, I've never said this is one I expect to win, just that this league can always throw up a surprise result. We faced Brentford just 2 rest days after Norwich if memory serves.

You faced Brentford the game after we’d run them ragged for 95 minutes, we’re the toughest team in the league to face physically, we’ll not give you a minutes rest, if you’re slightly feeling fatigued after Thursday you’ll be bang in trouble, we’re relentless at the best of times, after a good rest we’re even worse.

True, but nobody in this league is invincible, not even the mighty Barnsley! I have this one down for a draw in any case.

They came at the end of a gruelling run of fixtures, you could see we was desperate for the international break, they caught us at the right time, your catching us at the wrong time.

I think we should just throw in the towel and not play against the mighty Barnsley, seems like a pointless endeavour playing a game against a team who’ve transcended the sport like they have. I haven’t checked the league table in a while but at least we definitely won’t have to play them next season seeing as they must be at least 20 points clear at the top of the league.

When you play Barnsley you're really playing 4 other clubs as well while a plant from their forum distracts you.

When I watch the game on Sunday I’m going give Barnsley a standing ovation for 90 minutes in my living room. It’s an honour to be able to witness them.
