One big regret (1 Viewer)

that during the past SISU era Steve Waggott has had to work with his hands, legs and balls tied. If we had had decent owners I truly think under him and SP we would be looking to back to back promotions. If I was an owner of a club looking to improve ourselves I would entertain Waggott as a possible employee. First class guy in all this shite flying.

What evidence is there of what Waggott is responsible for? Good or bad? I just don't see why we should support the guy? Please reveal what he has achieved?

Most of the signings he was involved with were crap...

All we get from the majority on here is negative, negative and even more negative.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, personally I think he's a pretty shrewd guy and judge but only time will tell.

RFC, genuine question, because I want to judge with an open mind....not just Waggott but SP as well....but what is Waggott actually responsible for? what is his remit and role?

Not convinced at the moment, because I don't know what he is responsible for and can't judge his worth?

Has chosen two decent managers maybe. Most loans have been poor. Who chose the loans? If Waggott then poor decisions. If SP the same.

He chats a lot of shit. Feeds us lots of shit. But maybe has to put up with a lot of shit from Joy.

Waggot is as pro sisu as I am anti

Maybe ecky and you are probably as anti SISU as me. But I would still rather judge Waggott on what he does for the club against what he is responsible for; rather than just what camp he throws his hat into.

He has achieved possibly the best two managers we have had this century

Law of averages say's that we had to get lucky sometime. Have you never just played red or black on the roulette table?

Waggot at Charlton and his signings of new players or the convincing of ones we have to stay on for longer has quite frankly been crap. Sorry but I think he is cut from the same cloth as the rest of the Sisu/Otium puppets, else why would such a ruthless band of people employ him?

Not sure exactly, I'm guessing he played a major part in selecting the manager and also a big role in signing players.

I'd imagine Waggot would identify a list of players that we could realistically sign and then with the help of SP narrow down the list to there primary transfer targets.

Or either SP submits a list of targets to Waggot and then he narrows it down to players that we can afford and then tries to sign them

I'm guessing he plays a significant role in dealing with new contracts and incoming transfer bids/enquiries also.

All this is guesswork though.

I think it's been said before. He is possibly the best of a bad bunch but facts are he has both dealt in a relegation for both Cov and charlton. Most signings have been crap which is really his fault but then with no money and working for a company who doesn't care about football then crap signings are inevitable.

chose 2 best managers in years and signigns have been so-so only because of budget i would imagine.

no reason not to like him at very least.

Nice enough guy from what I can tell. It cant be an easy job to put together a squad and manager under the constraints on the club. Talks a lot of sense on footballing matters

I think for every positive there is at least equal negative

Brought in Pressley & Robins ....... I would assume he also had a say of some sort in Thorne & Shaw. ( as I understood it at the time the club received applications and it was an interview process so it wasn't just his decision)
"Brought in" McGoldrick & Leon Clarke ................ I raise you Barton, Akpom, Manset, MacDonald etc.

I think the point is much like any other person sourcing players or managers you win some lose some within the confines of the budget available. As such he does an ok job. Could he do better with a bigger budget - who knows unlikely he will get the chance at CCFC the way things are going.

Him not getting a big budget is one big regret? in some ways perhaps but then would we have got Pressley had the budget been a lot bigger? I think there are much bigger regrets to be honest

I think also you have to bare in mind he is one the Directors of Otium and as such joint and severally liable for the actions of the company since his appointment. It is not like he doesn't know what is going on.

I think he is OK, but working severe constraints. His track record at Charlton was nothing special.

I got impression the management appointments were following a process, clearly that process has worked well the last 2 times, before that I suspect Ranson used more gut feeling approach, which was much less successful.

TIME-- one of the two precious commodities CCFC do not have, the other being decent owners.

What is his responsibilities? Most fans who complain about poor signings and loan deals blame SP? Waggott seems to attract only praise?

I am not blaming him at all. I am saying let us know exactly what he is responsible for so we can judge properly. I don't see why we should support anyone at the club if they have not got a clearly defined role. He might be fantastic, if so let us know what he is achieving or what he has specifically been responsible for.

Waggot had a tougher time at Charlton and did very well by all accounts, where it got a bit personal.

Seems a decent chap.

Wasn't Thorn appointed by Deluded and his friends? Same with Mcdonald, he was signed when Deluded was still running operations.
