Been out again. Met a few lads in the Spon Gate pub 12 oclock. Sobered up after a great day ! Paced myself after 10 pints. They are impressed that a 64 year old can still last the pace. That's what window cleaning can do for you. And a woman in the group who's 45 said what's my secret ? Lucky I replied !

But I still like a nap in the afternoons, and after a shift after window cleaning, it's gone from 15 minutes to half an hour !

After a shopping trip to Morrison's I'm usually out cold for two hours. (Defective thyroid gland).

10 pints?

Don't know how people do it. Think the most I have ever drunk is 4 pints and that was a really tough struggle.

I make sure I have a meal before drinking, and a glass of milk.Works wonders. But as it was warm yesterday and the match was on I did sink a lot. We went in 3 pubs though,Spongate, Town Crier, and Cov Cross. Great atmosphere in all of them and many City fans in them too. Off it now till weekend !

It's when you feel it the day after the day after you know it's time to retire apart from cameo appearances!

I don't even feel ill as such, just really groggy and clumsy.

Couldn't do it every weekend, once every few months is just right.

A mate of mine drinks every day ! He's 64 as well and about 9 stone wet, how he does it is beyond me,plus he smokes too. His day revolves around pubs, seven days a week, never out of them. I like a drink but can lay off it I can go a month no problem, he thinks that's weird !

I'm done in bbr. Can't do it like I used to. When I was in the Army I was an animal. Now (still only) mid 30s one night out and I'm fucked for 3 days. Been in the sun on the Isle of Wight since Thursday and drank more Strongbow than I thought was possible. Now waiting for the ferry in the baking sun wishing I was dead!

I just can't take the volume these days......my middle-aged gut starts to protest after about 5 pints.

I had 6 pints of San Miguel at a gig on Saturday night then a couple of brandys as I couldn't fit any more lager in!

Even when younger, I could go out one night, have 6 or 7 pints and be fine, then another night, exactly the same intake and be hungover. No rhyme or reason to it.

I'm done after a few pints these days, although it can depend on the company you're in, and how good a time you are having. I was on holiday in St Ives, Cornwall a few years ago, on a night out with Sister and Brother-in-law, and it just seemed to be one of those extra good nights, ending the evening in a pub with a band who were pretty good. Anyway, when we got back to the apartment, we were quite merry, so totted up and me and B-I-L drank 10 pints each. Woke up next day feeling fine too. I couldn't believe it.

As I've got older for some reason drugs scare me more than anything. I'm a bit hungover today but I'll be fine soon, but drugs for me personally just don't agree with me. I dabbled a bit in my 20's but I always felt really ill for days after. And me and a pal took a load of magic mushrooms and I thought I had gone mad ! They freaked me out, and even now 30 odd years later just thinking about that gives me the jitters.

Since I had hip replacement I don’t drink hardly at all and often go weeks/months without any. If I ever have more than one I can feel myself going. But never feel bad next day (and never have).
On Fathers Day one daughter took her father-in-law and me out to a whisky bar in Brum. I thought I would let the side down and bale out after a couple. However had a fair few and still woke next day feeling fresh. But not had a drop since.

Haha no. Needed a new one from general wear and tear...possibly too much football as a kid and jumping off walls etc. Permanent discomfort, for 2 years, and often pain before replacement. Since nothing...best thing I have done (nearly 4 years ago).

I sympathise. Six years ago fell over on ice (sober) broke right ankle in two places, had 2 ops and got a pin and a rod holding it together. As I walk a lot and go up and down ladders some days fluid builds up on the ankle, bloody painful. Ironic though all the years window cleaning, playing football and rugby, and never broke anything, and slipped on ice !

Love a beer, but my stomach hates the physical volume. Over a long day, I'm not so bad, but on a shorter session the bloated feeling kicks in before the inebriated bit. If you can remember, I always find drinking a bit of water is the best bit to avoid a hangover.

Bloody hell, BBR!! Only just noticed that you didn't stop at 10 pints and merely paced yourself after 10 pints!!

What was the final tally?

No I meant I stopped at 10 ! I can do a dozen though on a day out, but with gaps in between. A customer of mine who stopped drinking years ago,I asked him why did he stop ? He said on a session he'd drink 20 pints.
Blimey no wonder he packed it in !

I can't see how people who drink so much at home do it either, three cans and I'm falling asleep.

Yeah on an all dayer pacing it's easily done.

Strangely I've always found snakebite and black goes down nicely and never gives a headache the next day.

In my prime I'd do 4 or 5 bottles of vodka a week. Plus the odd pint here and there and shots galore (and anything mineswept inbetween).
It's rare I drink nowadays. Thing with me is I'm kinda a bit lightweight (in a way) 2/3 pints and I start feeling pissed, but 10 pints later I'm still at the same level of pissed! So I find it pointless having 2 pints then sobering up and feeling lousy. And pointless spending £100 when I'm not any more pissed at midnight than I was at 7pm! CCFC give me enough ups and downs nowadays so there's no need for the alcohol really. Unless I'm at a wedding or a festival (like this weekend).

That's what I do now. I just avoid going to places where drink flows. I drink now at stag dos and weddings really. Don't even drink at the football anymore (although I had my fill at Wembley)!

I was in the Devon my midday yesterday and rolled out the Old Ball about half 9ish absolutely steaming.

Hate to think how much I drank as started on pints then switched to double voddys with a few shots thrown in along the way.

Surprisingly wasn’t that rough today.

Used to love magic mushrooms and trips back in the day and had some great times on them.

Not sure I would take them now though.
