"Well, Clive, what can you say. I know we haven't got a game this week but we'll still be rubbish."

Ian was down my local last Saturday, i dont know why so many slate himself. He goes most home games and see him occasionally at the away days. The reason so many fans are negative is because we are a poor team.

People slated him because he came on every week, always as first caller and just kept saying the same things week after week without offering anything new. Fine if he's got something to say, but go on, have your say and then let someone else have a go. Why keep going on every game and bang on about the same thing.

He has also on occasion said we were rubbish in a game when pretty much everyone else had been saying we played really well.

I know what you mean but he does make some valid points aswell. I.E The diamond is pointless which i agree with also the football is not as entertaining as many think it is. Like the fella from Leamington says, he loves a drink or 10.

Got to be fair to the bloke ...... he came on later last week and made a couple of good points about the diamond etc. However he did set himself up to be popped at in the past with his repetitive negativity, regurgitating the same thing week after week

True. I think after he got slated he changed his tack somewhat. He stopped being the first on every week and moved down the pecking order and has at least tried to say something different. The slating came at the time of the repetition.

I happen to agree with him about the diamond. So too about the football. It might be nice on the eye but it is all powder puff and within our own half with no cutting edge.

Just tell him 'constructive' is the way to go.

I'm always interested when callers talk about substitutions and what we should or shouldn't have done and what changes we should have made and where it went wrong rather than people just coming on saying we're rubbish.

Just tell him he's banned from using the word 'rubbish' in future!! That should do the trick.

The football isn't even pretty at the moment.
As Warnock said "Taking 25 passes to get to the half way line is not exciting"

Agree. I've been saying this since the very first game . A lot of fans thought we did well against Leshtur, whereas I just thought we looked impotent and offered very little other than 5 yard passes backwards and forwards across the pitch.

If you remember the football under Eric Black it was exciting because we got the ball forwards early and quickly. We played one touch football but did so at pace. We are very one dimensional at the moment.

I agree with your agreement....

The problem we have (well, one of the problems) is the lack of movement - both from the front two and from the midfield. In the first half last week Soton created at least 3 good chances with midfielders "bursting through".

The result is the side to side passing mentioned above, cos whichever poor sod has got the ball has no options in front of him.

Spot on, the difference in the team when we've got a bit of motivation is immense. The Soton game is a perfect example, and Platt highlighted it perfectly. When we're closing down and midfielders are breaking through we are good to watch and dangerous.

Unfortunately, as much as I like Thorn, you've got to lay the blame at his feet if he can't get the players to play like that before we score.

Did Clive really just say McSheffrey was "excellent" in the 2nd half against Southampton? I dont think any player came out of that game with credit, let alone being considered "excellent"

Platt did. That is all.

A fair few people saying that the club changed the verbal offer to King from 3 years to 2 in the faxed version when he was on holiday. I'm starting to think now that the club never intended to offer him the deal he wanted..why would they change it from 3 to 2? They don't have a problem with 3 and 4 year contracts now, do they? Perhaps King was stiched up as a smokecreen to divert the fans derision from their chronic under-funding for a while? Grrrrrrrrrr.

I for one definitely feel King was shafted and the club were playing hardball with his contract. He would have had the contract signed long before his agent went and got him that Brum contract. If the clubs owners treat the fans like they do and bullshit us at every turn, I couldn't possibly believe that in this instance they actually acted in the best interests of the club... It's not what they do.

Though King is hardly the pillar of the community so would we trust his version of events. I think SISU would have been perfectly happy to sign him on a long deal - asset value increases and he can then be flogged off.

I think the signing on fee at Brum was too hard to resist.....

Back to Ian, I think he is good for the CWR programme, entertaining, controversial and I think talks sense pretty much all the time.

Listened to the last 15 minutes here in France and he seemed OK, its just the same questions/points we all want to get an answer for. All seemed as passionate as us but the argument on the best system can and would go on all day as its a personal opinion, though i think most agree the diamond isn't working.
Its the first time i've managed to listen to it, is it a weekly show ? is there other skyblue shows on the radio ? can one of us, like brinner,OSB, torchy Otis and the rest get on as fan of the week, so they can give what we talk about on this site.
