Ndlovu, good job we don't have him now. Not sure how he would handle playing just in front of the defence while whelan tries to do a job left wing.

That flag that says Sky Blue Heaven. Hope it had a fire certificate!

Brought back memories of the days we had team spirit and players wanting to achieve for the club.

Just shows how far we.ve sunk ............... and still sinking, I fear

A far cry from the mediocre third division team playing second fiddle to a rugby club..... It's almost unbelievable that we scored such great goals against top sides - once upon a time. The discussions over crap loan players, poor signings, low attendances, etc. etc. are our present day reality - oh wait .... We have a positive cash flow.

It is nothing short of a disaster. We have court cases, a jr, smoking guns, "we don't posture" " I don't negotiate. negotiations waste time". This video shows us again how low we have sunk. We should actually be rioting on the streets - but violence is wrong. Nevertheless, I cannot understand any apologies for our owners. They are in charge, and they have to deal with problems - e.g. The original rent.

They have failed miserably. Ruined the sporting side of things and lost any stake in the stadium built for CCFC. They have got no further with their own plans to build a stadium.

No more excuses. No more blame game. SISU are,in the case of CCFC, absolutely incompetent. Just look at the video and then at our present team.... ( yes they were already relegated when SISU arrived, but SISU have had years to redress that...)

Careful some on here don't like the truth, we have great owners who have been misunderstood and railroaded by a couple of working class counselors with little or no education.

Enjoying the football again I see? Why not just enjoy the good video? Anybody would think you only cared about the politics.

All the time, every thread. What the hell has that got do with Noel Whelan scoring some good goals?

Some decent goals in there, but my recollection is that overall he was only an average player for us. Showed enough skill sometimes to suggest he had talent, but didn't perform well enough, regularly enough.

The over spending in those years has helped lead us on the path to ruin. Some of the players we saw we wouldn't have done if we spent only what we could afford, I enjoyed the great games and the great players we saw, but vids like this also show where we went wrong.

Just think how far we could have gone if we didn't have a back four that included Richard Shaw & Paul Williams. Yet, still miles better then the shit we have to put up with now.

Edit: Whelan was a superb player for us, that team of the late 90's would even at their old age run rings around this team.

Asset strip on a scale that would make seppella blush
Negotiate a ridiculous deal at the Ricoh
Not go into administration
Sack a promising manager and replace with a big name dud not once but twice

Torch will headspin but I am confident if we had kept the ducker and diver Richardson we would be in a far better place now . I can just imagine what he'd have done with the council and their "deal"

Whilst not wishing to derail a Whelan goals thread, was it really asset stripping or was it necessary selling as we were £60m in debt? are you referring to selling players or selling the ground? Was the sale price for Highfield Rd ever made public?

The deal at the Ricoh was alright wasnt it, get a ground to play in for £6m and own half of ACL, thereby we get half of the £1.3m rent back. Certainly we missed the boat where going into admin was concerned.

The club should have gone into administration as soon as they were relegated. No points penalty no debt nothing.

Peter Reid gave an interview on 5 live once and said that when he came he said he wanted to build a team around certain players and not to sell claim davenport - mcginnity said he wouldn't sell him. Then he sold him. The squad was frees and loans it was desperately poor.

I don't even understand the last point. ACL were Independant totally to the club. It still would have to pay £1.3 million rent to ACL who took no dividends and were skint. The point is Richardson would have seen that and royally fucked them over - and he'd have been right to do so.

Richardson was a self serving, power hungry diamond geezer. Looked after nobody else but himself.

Not entirely true, my mate was getting married and we went up to the club to see if we could get a copy of the sky blue song that was played as the players came out (the one that went into a ridiculous drum solo if the players were delayed), as we were waiting Richardson came out and gave him a wedding gift of a sky blue babygrow, nice touch. My mate is divorced now, but that's SISU's fault.

Such a waste some if those goals are reminiscent of Cantona.
GS tried his best with him even bringing him into the family home.
He was not an average player he let himself down

Tough choice some years if glory followed by a drop. Or nothing just steady eddy.
I heard Portsmouth fans saying they would do the same again rather than never experienced what they did

This is too far. I'd advise you to remove this comment, as if Richardson saw it and decided to appoint a lawyer you would be on a sticky wicket.
